There are several reviews explaining the process since you get at the embassy (such as security; things allowed to bring; being interviewed by two officers, first one Venezuelan, second one American) until you leave. So, I'm gonna focus in other details, like documents: They're not asking lately for I-134, affidavit of support, W2s and 1040s. It doesn't mean you shouldn't bring them with you (they might ask for them, of course!) but don't worry so much if your incoming is not that good, the most important thing is to be confident, honest and being in a real relationship. Consulate interview is more like a formal requeriment to know your health status and double check if you're saying the truth. Therefore, don't be nervous, DON'T LIE AT ALL and everything will be OK. People at the embassy were very nice and polite, feel free to ask whatever you need to clarify; BTW, I met the girl from "Dama & Carlos" VJ casually at the embassy that day that was such a good relief!... read complete review

I decided to fly from the US to Venezuela to accompany my wife for her Immigrant Visa IR-1/CR-1.
We had the interview set up at 9AM, but we showed up at the embassy around 7:30AM. Although we were there for an Immigrant visa I was told I had to make a line with everybody else outside of the embassy territory for a general security speech.
That first line had around 60 people. We waited like 20 minutes, the line didnt move at all but suddenly they allowed that whole group to walk closer at the parking lot to gather up and listen to a security officer give us some general guidelines on what not to bring inside of the embassy. I raised my hand and asked "We're here for immigrant visa" and that's when I figured out we were the only ones with such a case. He just told me to stay with my group and I will be separated later after security screening.
So, after that speech, they directed the whole group to a second line, this was for a pre-security ... read complete review

My experience was really good!
My interview was at 9:00 am and I get there at 7:00 am. There was a lot of people already doing the first line in the parking lot. There they will give you a Little chat about all the things you can not enter to the building (the same as in the confirmation email). Also they told you to have on hand your current Passport, the DS-160 confirmation page and the interview confirmation email.
Then I went to another check point where they check your appointment and they give you a sticker with your name on it and the type of visa you are requesting.
After that you go to a belonging checking and then to pick a black box for your belonging and to the final check point. Here they told me to go to the immigration section and they guide you there.
At the immigration section I took a ticket number and wait for being called. The first interview was done by a Venezuelan young lady who asked me for my police records, birth cer... read complete review

What does refused mean? How much time do they give to file a waiver?
