Review Topic: Direct Consular Filing

Hubby had his interview today. He has gotten a provisional approval (pending someone in the US giving final approval due to our case being unique).

Hubby got to the embassy 15mins prior to his 10am appointment. Approached security and showed them his appointment confirmation email, which they signed and waved him through. Through security screening and walked into the main building and saw reception who checked the email appointment and gave him a number. He then went up the stairs and to the visa unit and waited for his number to be called (20minutes). When his number was called he spoke to the first guy who took all paperwork. He took his birth certificate, police certificate and marriage certificate and any financial support documents (he provided our social security statements as we were exempt from the I-864). He then went back to the cashier to pay the fee. He then waited again for the interview officer. He then met with the interviewer, which mostly consisted of r... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Not much more to add from the other reviews. I had my expedited interview (due to medical reasons) this morning at the embassy. I went through security, into the main building, and was guided to the waiting area. I waited about 40 minutes for my documents to be checked, and then another 20 minutes or so for the interview.

I got a bit grilled on the reasons for our marriage, which is fair enough, considering we got married 3-4 months after meeting. The concerns were mostly about the short time between meeting up and getting married, and the short time between me living in the UK and being ready to settle in the US. Also got asked about how we met, if we had a wedding, if we had met each other's families, my occupation, and what my plans were once in the US.

The interview took about 10 minutes, and all in all, the process took about 1.5h and went as smoothly as possible.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

This is my husband's review of his IR-1 interview at the London Embassy:

I found the embassy a very inviting and approachable place to go, much more so than the old embassy. There was plenty of street signage guiding people there so it was easy to find. At security there was a sign saying “Visas” that pointed to a locked door and another sign saying “US Citizen services” that was manned by security. The security person on the US Citizen side directed me to a third door that had a small sign that said visas and someone came out to meet me and check my papers. After having my papers checked I went through security with no problems then up the slope to the visitor entrance. I was quite early but they let me and directed me to the 1st floor to a large waiting lounge, but kept the confirmation of my appointment at the desk and told me to come back shortly. I took that opportunity to use the toilet and take a few pictures and then went back down to... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

I arrived an hour early for my 10.30am appointment on Thursday 1st October 2020. I headed to the entrance so I knew where I needed to go to. The Embassy was well signposted and I had travelled via train from Birmingham and took the tube from Euston to Vauxhall. It was only a short 10min walk from there. It is compulsory to wear a mask at the building.

There is a strong armed police presence all around the building. There are signposts that directs you to the South Pavilion entrance for all visa appointments. There were also two entrances there; American citizen services and visa services. I knew to approach the Visa services door. A lady was happy to register me in and advised me to come back in half an hour at 10am. The paperwork needed was the appointment confirmation and the DS-260 confirmation page. She also advised there was a cafe across the street.

I enjoyed a smoothie across the road with the big white foot statue as well as the embassy building as... read complete review
