My interview was last week and I have got the notification that my visa will arrive tomorrow exactly one week after the interview.
I was EXTREMELY nervous as I have had a whole year to think of all the worst case scenarios and unknowns during this pandemic.
I arrived about 25 mins before my appointment time. There were two queues, one for US citizens and one for visas. You have to go up and check in with a guy before joining the queue. Because my appointment was in the immigrant section he sent me straight through and I did not have to queue. You go through like an airport security check. I had a backpack with not much in it except my papers and purse etc. The building itself I found quite intimidating but I think because I was so nervous anything would have been intimidating. You then go to like a reception and they give you a ticket and then you wait upstairs. Apparently there are great view of the thames from the embassy but I was too nervous to do anyt... read complete review

We had our interviews on 30 June 2021.
Stayed at Travelodge in Vauxhall which is right next to Kings Cross and about a 15 minute walk to embassy, although we got an Uber due to me wearing heels and the weather not being good!
Two queues, one for US citizens (which I didn’t first notice so just queued like a lemming behind everyone else until we realised they were all dressed very casual and had American accents 🙄 😅…moved to other queue. No wait time, showed interview letter and then went through security. Husband had to remove belt and you put all your stuff in a tray like an airport.
You are then directed to go up a lift and follow signs to the waiting area. Inside there are several numbered booths on one side and seating in front. There was around 16 people and not many spare seats (because of social distancing). Room air conditioned so nice and cool, but remember to take a drink with you. (I didn’t but wish I had)!

I arrived in London yesterday at 9:45 for my 11:30 appointment. I was feeling nervous and decided to go straight to the embassy, so I arrived at 10:00 and sat nearby since I was extremely early. I waited outside for about 45 minutes, and at 10:45 I asked if I would be allowed inside. He asked to see my printed email confirmation and my passport to sign me in, but told me to wait outside until 11:00.
At 11:00 I went to the door to go through security. The door is locked, so you have to wait and stand there until they come to get you. They made me unlock my phone and open an app before I was allowed inside. Then I emptied my pockets and put my bag in a basket to be scanned. Then I walked through the metal detectors. They asked me to take a sip out of my drink, and a pen in my bag must have looked suspicious on the scanner because they made me take it out of my bag to show them.
Then I left security and went inside the main building. I went straight to the 2... read complete review

I've described this at some length, as I have found reading other people's reviews and advice very helpful. I hope this might be of help to someone else.
As I live in Scotland, I took the train down the day before. I stayed at the Best Western Vauxhall, which is only a few minutes walk from Vauxhall Underground and from the embassy (although be aware that if you're using a directions app, it will try to take you through a major construction site, which you have to take a detour around). It's cheap by London standards (I paid £60), the rooms are decent and they let me leave my bag at the hotel while I went to the embassy.
I'm very glad that, before I went, I had read the embassy guide and watched a couple of videos on the embassy's YouTube channel that walk you through the security system, the entrance hall etc. This really helped me to visualise what was going to happen and made it a much more relaxed experience. For example, I knew in advance that for ... read complete review
