The interview was at 8.30am on 19 June. We got to the Embassy at around 7.20am, and there were about 15 people in front of us. A queue quickly formed behind us so I was glad we arrived so early. We were absolutely fascinated by the group of about 6 "businessmen" in extremely dodgy suits that were last in style around 1979 (and I'm being generous that they were EVER in style) and truly horrific shoes. They provided us with the opportunity for a lot of speculation as to how six men of various ages could all have similarly bad taste, and this made the time pass quickly! I peeked at other people's paperwork they were clutching and it looked like most of the people were there for work and student visas.
The marshal arrived at 7.30 and started shepherding us into queues for the security hut. We were pretty much at the hut by 7.50, but were held up by one of the Bad Taste Brigade who it took 8 minutes to inspect -- according to a security guard I overheard, he had a laptop, Ipo... read complete review

I arrived at the embassy around 10am for a 10.30am appointment. Queued for half an hour to get in, showed my passport and interview letter to anyone who asked, handed over my mobile/ipod/carkeys at security, showed my interview letter again, took a number, then waited inside. There were hundreds of people there but it was pretty well organised. They sell drinks and food there by the way. The tea was nearly drinkable...
When I was finally called to a window the first stage was to hand over the various documents to a lady with a quite dificult-to-understand accent. Friendly though. Anyway I gave her:
DS-230 part 2
my birth certificate and a copy
one photo
police certificate thingy and copy
I-864
copy of husband's latest tax return - they didn't want transcripts and they didn't want W-2s as he'd only worked in the UK
information on using our house as an asset - I had...
letter from estate agent confirming offer... read complete review

Arrived at the embassy at 7.20 for an 8.30 appointment had about seven people in front of me. Waited till 7.30 and then a lady started checking paperwork and directing people to different lines. I was the first one for imigrant visa got through security they take your phones off and give you a number to collect on your way out. Everybody was very friendly and helpful and followed round the embassy perimeter to the main entrance. At the desk was given a number 001 and sat down and waited to be called. Around 8.00 was called to desk and asked for paperwork, only one photo needed apparantly paperwork has not yet been changed.
Had fingerprints taken and was told to go back and wait for either my number or name to be called. At this time needed the ladies but was to worried would miss my name being called so sat with legs crossed patiently waiting. Got called about 8.20 and the young man I saw asked me to sign the DS230 part 2 re took fingerprints and asked me where I met my husban... read complete review

After a nerve racking early morning drive down to London I finally managed to beat the traffic and arrive at the embassy approximately 15 minutes before my scheduled 10:30am appointment. I walked around the side of the building following the VISA signs and found the right entrance. I showed my passport and appointment letter to the lady in the bright yellow jacket and was told to go and stand in Line D. I had geared my self up for a long wait at this point and due to the fact that the weather on the way down had been terrible I fully expected to get a soaking. I was however pleasantly surprised to find that there were only 2 or 3 people in front of me in the line and maybe 20-30 in the line next to me. I was at the front in a matter of minutes where the man mountain of a security guard checked my passport made a joke about the picture and told me to stand in the line for the security check. This took a little longer but within 10 minutes I’d had by bag scanned, handed over my mobile ... read complete review

My fiance got to the consulate 20 mins before his 9 am appointment, queued for security, then walked in the building at exactly 9 am.
Only questions asked at the interview were how we met (internet), when we first met in person, how many times each of us had visited the other, had I (petitioner) met his family, what line of work did he plan on doing when he got here, when was he planning to travel to the US. Took only his birth certificate, police certificate, copy of his previous divorce decree, I 134 and my employer letter.
Was there for an hour and a half total.
