10th August 2007: I got the embassy about 20 minutes early and only had to que for about 15 mintues. When I went into the embassy I was given a number and went to take a seat. I waited about 30 minutes before I got called to the first window. The lady was American and didn't exactly radiate happiness but who can blame her? she was at work after all!! I gave her all the required documents/forms etc and paid for the visa. With no problems, I went and sat back down in the waiting area. After about another 30 mintues wait, in which I got talking to a couple of people, I was called again. The lady asked for more documents/forms and then asked some questions...how I met my fiance? Where he worked? etc etc. She started to hound me about one particular detail about how I got to know my fiance....she was trying to trip me up im sure but there was no chance of that seeing as she had nothing to trip me up with! After the 'questioning'..she said okay that's fine. Wanting a clearer statement than... read complete review

I had my interview today. I arrived at the embassy at 7:45 for an 8am interview. Inside, I was first called to a window and the guy there had my file with the USCIS and NVC stuff. He asked me when I planned to travel and took figerprints of both hands. Then he tolded me to wait. After 20 min I was called for the interview they took fingerprints again of the right hand and took the oath. Then the lasy asked me when I got married and when I first met my wife? She said that everything was in order and I was approved but they require further processing because Shahid Khan is very common name. I asked her how long it was going to take because my UK visa is expiring on Nov 30. She said it can take anywhere from 4 days to 3 months. They will send the file back to washington. She said that she will put in a note to complete this processing in a hurry since my visa is expiring and as soon as I get cleared from washington they will call me to send my passport through courier service so they can ... read complete review

I arrived early at around 7:45 and was directed to the line by the fence. They asked me to put electronic and metal items such as keys, phones etc. into a plastic bag and they kept my electronic keys and gave me a number to collect them with when I left. I was given number 5007 and had to wait a little over an hour to be called to the counter. I wasn't nervous waiting but as soon as I got to the counter a few butterflies turned up . I was asked for certificates and financial details. I had to provide finger prints and pay the visa fee. I was given a bar code and my x-ray and asked to wait to be called for the interview. I didn't have to wait too long for the interview and they asked me how we met and how many times I had been to the US. They also asked for a tax return even though we had provided pay stubs and an employers letter plus proof of my assets. He took my fingerprints again and then said you are approved and that the visa should turn up in a week... read complete review

Everything went well. Only problem was lady at front desk confusing a K1 visa for a non immigrant visa. I know it is a non immigrant visa but it is supposed to be treated as an immigrant visa because it eventually leads to permenant residence. so i waited for my number to called only to be sent back to the front desk to get another number for a immigrant visa.
Also i took a nice package with all the documentation i needed and they wern't intersted. they just wanted my birth certificate and passport.

Everything went swimmingly! We got in line at 8:30 AM almost on the nose and we were in the building with a number by 8:55 AM. We were called to the first counter by about 9:45 AM - the man was pleasant and it didn't take long at all. There weren't any snags with paying either ($380 USD in total on my British visa debit card). And I'm sorry I can't quite remember how long we waited to get called for the actual visa interview part, but it wasn't long. The woman was nice again as well and she didn't ask my husband any questions at all actually. She asked me if I was the petitioner and if I had a home in the US, and she found my answers acceptable. Then she said everything was complete and they just had to make sure Chris didn't have an FBI profile (she nicely said this in a joking manner) and that he should have his passport with visa back within the week!
There was a bit of a to-do with paying for the courier as it costs 21GBP in adddition to the stand... read complete review
