Aside from the waiting around for HOURS and finding it hard to hear what people were saying to me through the thick glass at the booths the interview process itself was simple and straight-forward and much as I expected it to be based on other people's accounts. I would caution people to allow a lot of time if they have to make firm travel arrangements as I arrived at the embassy and was waiting from 08:40 for a 09:00 appointment time and didn't get out of there until 12:30!!! I wasn't asked for any additional proof of our relationship but I would still suggest you take it with you just in case. You apparently cannot take ordinary house keys in with you either now, so I left these with my phone at the passport photo place at 449 Oxford Street.

I arrived outside the Embassy at around 9am (appointment time was 9.30am), having nipped to Gould's pharmacy just up N Audley road to get US style photos (2 for £5). After a 20 minute wait in the rain, I got to the front of the queue and was told the appointment letter I had with Packet 4 was incorrect. The guy checked all my papers, eventually went off and spoke to someone else and came back to tell me my appointment letter was fine, telling me "I've never seen this kind of letter before." Let that be a heads up to everyone else.

You can't take phones, usb memory sticks or anything with batteries in to the Embassy, as I was kindly informed by the policeman outside. Your wallet, spare change and belt etc will be placed into a plastic bag before you go through the metal detector to get in.

Once inside, I got a ticket from the front desk and went up in to the main hall. I'd estimate there were around 100-150 people sat waiting, watching the plasma screens f... read complete review

Ok from the top. My interview was July 11th at 9 am and I traveled down with my cousin the night before so we could spend some time together. We stayed in a hotel in Wembley and co-workers had told me that it would take 35-40 minutes to get from Wembley Park to Bond Street. So I was up at 6 and we were out of the room by 6.50, parked and on the tube by 7 expecting a bit of a journey into London. Imagine my surprise when it only took 15 minutes and we were standing in Grosvenor Square staring up at the eagle by 7.30. We found a coffee shop and set up camp, it made me nervous seeing people running down the road to the pharmacy to get photos or leave their phones/car keys/usb ... they all looked so super stressed out. We went and got in the queue at 8.30 and finally got to a check point where a security guard looked at my letter and sent me to the 9oclock line. In front of me were two lovely people who were both also going in for 9 o clock K1 visa interviews so we all sort of stuck togeth... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Had my CR1 interview on July 2. I started this entire process almost a year ago and all this buildup for the shortest interview ever in my life. I waited 50 minutes outside for interview (don't bring keys with you as they make you store them across the street). Finally got inside and waited only 15 minutes for interview. Was asked 3 questions:
- when did you meet your wife?
- how many times have you been to visit her?
- how many times has she been to visit you?

And that was it. She stamped my approved and said visa will arrive in 3 to 5 days. But to my surprise, it arrived this morning, just one day after my interview. Glad this process is over.

Was down in London last week for the visa interview. Stayed in Marble Arch at the hotel recommended. As was sisad before clean and compact with good location fro embassy.
Was in the que at US embassy for 9am with my interview at 10am. They don't allow cell phones inside now so you are forced to depoit it at a chemist just down the st and have to pay £10 for the priviledge! Never got inside until after 10 and the sat in the room for about an hr waiting to be called to a window to produce all my paperwork.

After the paperwork and some questions from a British guy had to then pay for my visa (£64) and go sit down again to be called up again after about 90 mins to go to another window. Was then interviewed by a rather stern American woman who asked me a few questions about Sonya - how we met, when did I see her etc etc and then after about 10 other questions said she was happy enough to grant my visa subject to a medical and my finger prints being OK.
