Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

This interview was for the CR-1 and CR-2 visas as my wife and stepson both had interviews. She and my stepson were interviewed by 2 people (My stepson is 3 will be 4 in May). A little background on my personal history, this is my 2nd wife from Ukraine. The first was all about money, and had a friend that did the same that she did to me... marry, have a kid, get a divorce, and child support. I lost what was most precious to me, my daughter. Anyways... I swore I'd never go to Ukraine again, but by some odd chance ended up meeting my now wife Inna, and she was a real heaven sent. She changed my life completely for the better and brought me from a very bad place. Anyways again, I was not able to make the interview, but for those of you out there...I highly recommend that you do if able to.

I guess because this is my 4th wife, and 2nd from Ukraine, she got the 3rd degree, and got asked the following questions (She was interviewed by some lady tha... read complete review

We went too early. Google maps estimated a 15 minute drive time in traffic and we assumed a taxi would take 15 minutes to arrive at our hotel. The taxi took 5 minutes and traffic was non-existent from 7-7:30 AM.

There is a little trailer across from the embassy entrance to store (small) personal items for 40 UAH. You give them your stuff and you'll get a receipt to pay when you pick up.

We went through security and waited to be called to drop off documents. At the document window some basic questions were asked including whether or not fiance is present... and fingerprints taken.

We waited 15-20 minutes and then called for interview. He made her recite the oath... read her fingerprints... have you ever been in US? Is your fiance present? I was called over to the window and he asked if we could continue in English. How did you meet? He asked me about my work and my travel history (I have spent over half a year with my fiancee in var... read complete review

We arrived at the embassy at 8:15 for our 8:30 appointment. There was a short wait outside the door, then we were ushered in through the X-ray scanner and metal detector. We had left mobile phones etc at the hotel, so there were no issues with security.

After passing security we reached the reception desk, and the receptionist checked our appointment confirmation sheet then gave us a number and directed us to the waiting area. We noticed that most of the officers spoke Ukrainian, Russian and English.

After taking a number, We were called to the first window right away, but they only took our documents at the first window, then we waited again. After about an hour wait the number was called again to another window for the actual interview. That officer asked us a few easy questions, especially emphasizing the Domestic Abuse pamphlet, but also easy questions like "are you looking forward to the warm weather in Texas?" Then he told us the visa was approved ... read complete review

Very pleasant experience. Went through security and checked in at desk. Was given a ticket and waited our turn to be called to window to submit documents. We had everything organized and process went very smoothly. Once documents were passed we waited again to be called to a different window were we would have the interview. Called to window to speak to officer who was a very nice middle age American man. Spent more time talking to him about travel in the Middle East (I noticed he was wearing a lanyard with Saudi Arabia written on it) then asking actual questions about relationship. Questions we did get were "how did we meet", "How many times have you traveled to Ukraine" and that was it. We did have a very good package assembled so I guess lots of questions were not necessary.

There was a couple behind us that was getting the 3rd degree though. They were not organized withe their papers very well and to be quite honest did not look like they were a match...(She looked l... read complete review

Professional. In at 08.30 out at 12.00 with no decision. First interviewer was a young woman who was clearly hostile. She questioned Iryna for 15 minutes and me for 5. That interview was over about 9.50. She said she needed to review the package. About 11:30 the second interviewer called Iryna into the private room and questioned her for another 10 minutes. Older woman was friendlier and knew one of my friends in the pictures. We are currently in AP for an affidavit of no prior marriage. Maybe legitimate, maybe just getting me out of the building. I don't know the result as I write this.
