This interview was for the CR-1 and CR-2 visas as my wife and stepson both had interviews. She and my stepson were interviewed by 2 people (My stepson is 3 will be 4 in May). A little background on my personal history, this is my 2nd wife from Ukraine. The first was all about money, and had a friend that did the same that she did to me... marry, have a kid, get a divorce, and child support. I lost what was most precious to me, my daughter. Anyways... I swore I'd never go to Ukraine again, but by some odd chance ended up meeting my now wife Inna, and she was a real heaven sent. She changed my life completely for the better and brought me from a very bad place. Anyways again, I was not able to make the interview, but for those of you out there...I highly recommend that you do if able to.
I guess because this is my 4th wife, and 2nd from Ukraine, she got the 3rd degree, and got asked the following questions (She was interviewed by some lady that spoke Russian and Ukrainian to her, and my wife said the woman looked at her with much skepticism):
Where do you work?
If she knew I was married before, and how many times?
If she knew why I had divorce, and why she thinks that the same will not happen to her?
What is your husbands job?
What is a warrant officer 3 (Yes, I'm military)?
How many children did she have, and names?
What about permission for Nikita? On this part, there was a new law created on the 19th of October 2016 that a parent didn't need permission to take their child out of the country. We researched this law, went to the lawyers, and even to where they do the passports, and everyone said it was no problem, that we didn't need permission to bring my stepson. She showed her a copy of the internet page where this law was published, and said she had to speak with another officer because she was not familiar with this law. Really??? It's only been out for 6 months now... the consulate should be on top of these things.
On another note, I guess the photos she had done were only 4cm x 5cm and need to be 5cm x 5cm... BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR PHOTO SIZES!!! She was made to redo the photos, which was an extra 100grn each. They let her go and redo the photos and bring them back.
My wife said Person 2 was a nicer man that did his job better. He spoke to her in English, and he asked:
How we met?
Where we met 1st time?
How I found you?
About the children, their names and ages?
How old is my daughter?
So overall, I feel like I wish I would have gone, but not exactly easy to do on a last minute notice. Both visas were approved, but my stepson's with the condition that she get permission from his biological father and send it to the embassy. His biofather wants to extort money from my wife for this even though he never visits or calls, and basically wants nothing to do with this poor boy. She's going to end up selling her half of her apartment to him, and just finally be done with all of the situation. I'm very lucky to have them both!!! I'm going with my parents to enjoy a small vacation and just enjoy family time with all of my family in June. Yay me! Hope this helps someone else be maybe a little better prepared.
