Arriving half-an-hour before the appointment time is sufficient, no need to be there much earlier.
As other posters have mentioned, entry with phones, cameras, electronic devices, lighters, cigarettes is prohibited. You are allowed to bring documents in some kind of folder, but do not bring bags with you. Just across the street, enterprising souls have setup mobile storage, which you can use to leave your things at for a small fee.
For K-1 visa type we were in the Immigrant area. You will be given a number and directed where to go, and which windows or interview rooms to watch for your number to be called and displayed. Everything is marked and easy to understand.
We had our medical on Tuesday. The new clinic is at 15 Tarasivska St. If everything is all-right, for adults, medical results (a packet for the consulate, a disk with lung X-ray, and the vaccinations sheet to be used later in the US) are given the next afternoon.

The interview went well. We had an unusual wedding location, so they had their legal team review our case while we waited. Others were waiting for interviews and most of them failed all around us, they were being dismissed. Finally, we were called back to the window a second time and told we were approved. It took about 2 hours to get in and out of the Embassy and the interview processes.

The interview was fast and easy. We overwhelmed them a bit with nearly a thousand pages of personal communications for proof of relationship. They actually only took about half to review. The Consular Officer was polite and good natured. He asked basic questions about our meeting and where we would live in the US and what type of work Iryna would do. That was it. He said, "Congratulations, you're approved and good luck." It could not have gone better.
