People at the embassy are very nice especially at the immigration unit. The embassy was nice enough to speed up my interview by 2 weeks after I made an original appointment. As far as the interview part, as soon as we came up to the CO, he said "hello here are your originals back, I don't have any questions for you". That was all the interview, so I guess as long as your paperwork is in order the interview is a piece of cake.

We had our interview August 7.
First I will say, the people inside the consulate were wonderful in every way. I went to the interview with Alla. For the benefit of others I will give the details.
We first went to Pro-credit bank, the one nearest the consulate listed in their directions. It is about a 5 minute walk from the consulate. This branch opens at 7 am for the benefit of the US consulate. There was quite a line but we got there at 7:15 and our appointment was for 9:30. Allow for 1/2 hour or more at this bank branch. When it came time to pay for the visas I handed the money through the window and the woman gave it back to Alla and said "she" had to pay, not me. So then Alla handed the money to her. Oh well.
Then we walked to the consulate. There are lines for interview times and we got in the 9:15-9:30 line. Our appointment was for 9:30 There were LOTS of people there but only a few for K-1 visas. They... read complete review

I was able to attend the interview with my fiancee and her son and it was fortunate that I did! We had a terrible experience with the Ukrainian staff person that examined our documents. She was unbelievably hostile and rude. She snatched our documents and threw the ones that she did not need back at us. She lectured us about buying our tickets before receiving the visa (we had no choice given our schedule)and they then told us that my fiancee's 19 yo son would not be able to adjust status from a K2 visa and would have to return to Ukraine in 90 days (this is completely incorrect) and then lectured us again for thinking that it was "so simple" to take children to the US. Eventually the CO arrived, asked questions about our relationship and gave us the pink slip. The next day I realized that he did not take a sworn statement from my finacee nor did he complete the DS156(k) document (which would have been a big problem for us if I hadn't caught this mistake. We returned the next day and p... read complete review
