What can you say about Consulate, that understands your situation? How many stars it deserves? Definitely more than 5.
We had a situation with Olya's daughter aging-out of eligibility to come over, so we decided to give it a shot, and sent e-mail to Embassy well in advance, while paperwork still was at NVC. Didn't get any reply, and though all is lost. But on September 27 Olya got a call (and I got e-mail) saying that, although Consular Section is closed on last Friday of the month, they decided to do one interview - her, to give us a chance in age-out situation.
So here we go. Olya arrived at Consular Section, they let her right in. Usual stuff - sorting paperwork, fingerprints and then.... interview. It was kind of long, and centered on our relationship before filing I-129F. Since we know each other for many years - it is understandable. They had to rule out any doubt, that our relationship is real. At the end Consul took all Olya's original documents, passports, printe... read complete review

Here is what my Ukrainian fiance had to say about his recent interview experience. I was not able to be there with him but it sounds like it did not matter:
"I used a bus to go to the embassy and I was there at 8.20. There was a crowd of people, but I did have some special treatment with other people for immigration visas. Everyone with those visas came the same time before 9 a.m. and after that it was necessary to wait (in my case until 10.50). First Ukrainian clerks checked the presence of the original documents and took them. The copies were unnecessary – they did not even look at them. After that I paid 350 USD and started to wait. fIrst they got my fingerprints and I was waiting again.
Then I went to the consular officer who was a nice guy and I spent with him through the glass maybe 5 minutes. For one minute he said some oath and I was standing with my right hand up, then he looked the scan of my middle finger of the right hand. Then he asked me if I speak Englis... read complete review

Today my fiance had his interview at the Embassy in Kiev. He thinks he waited about three hours before being seen, but he wasn't quite sure since there were no clocks visible in the waiting area! The interview lasted seven minutes, and he says the American woman who interviewed him was really nice. Everything went really well, and we were approved! Such a happy day since it's taken 9 1/2 months to be approved. Our attorney told us originally it would be 4-6 before he would be in the States, so 9 1/2 felt like forever... but not too long to wait to be so happy :o) Congrats to everyone else, and good luck to those who will be interviewing soon!
