Here is what my Ukrainian fiance had to say about his recent interview experience. I was not able to be there with him but it sounds like it did not matter:
"I used a bus to go to the embassy and I was there at 8.20. There was a crowd of people, but I did have some special treatment with other people for immigration visas. Everyone with those visas came the same time before 9 a.m. and after that it was necessary to wait (in my case until 10.50). First Ukrainian clerks checked the presence of the original documents and took them. The copies were unnecessary – they did not even look at them. After that I paid 350 USD and started to wait. fIrst they got my fingerprints and I was waiting again.
Then I went to the consular officer who was a nice guy and I spent with him through the glass maybe 5 minutes. For one minute he said some oath and I was standing with my right hand up, then he looked the scan of my middle finger of the right hand. Then he asked me if I speak English and asked few questions:
1) How did you meet your fiancée?
2) Where did you meet her?
3) How did your relations proceed?
4) Who is she working for?
5) What state are you coming to?
6) Is it close to DC?
7) Does she have a house?
8) What will you do in the US?
So I answered in the polite way and he gave me my original documents, said the best wishes and described about FedEX that will deliver my passport. I said thank you and went to the FedEX post, paid money and went to the work. They will deliver it in 7 working days."
