The whole process took nearly 2 hours. They called me 3 times for my number (they give you one upon your entrance). The third one is the "interview". The woman asked me how we knew each other, if we had been travelling a lot back and forth, and... what was the best moment to purchase a ticket for the US! Not very sure if that was a tricky question. I answered seriously, though. "Everything's ok, sir"
Got my passport with the visa one week later. Woohoo!
Everything ran smoothly. I' writing from the US, already married!

The interview for my husbands K-1 visa in Madrid went fine I guess. I was with him. We were a little disappointed that they didn't ask more questions. They seemed mostly interested in if they thought we had enough money.
Our biggest complaint about the Embassy in Madrid is that it is virtually impossible to contact them for information or help. My husbands name was spelled wrong in the California processing office so when the information was sent to Madrid we tried calling many many times to the number for visa information... no one ever answered the phone. We sent a fax clearly explaining the error... no one ever got back to us. Finally I contacted the Consulate in Barcelona and they took care of it for us. Then we were waiting and waiting for the interview letter to come with the date and it never did. We contacted the consulate in Barcelona again and they told us we missed it, that the letter had been sent a month before. We are very sure that it was never sent. Luckily the c... read complete review

My husband arrived 40 min early, there was no line. He went to the first window and they found his file from the NVC and asked him for his police certificate from madrid. He said that wasn't required (per the appointment letter) she had to research it and it was agreed that it wasn't necessary. He did his fingerprints and told to take a seat he waited about 20 min and was called for his interview.
The questions were: Who is (wife's name)? Why are you in Spain? Why (wife's name)? Where did you meet her? Did you know other women before? Why did you invite her? Do you know her kids? Will you have problems with the kids?
As the consular was asking questions my husband was showing him the pictures of us and the emails. The consular happened to find an email where my husband and I had a disagreement with my kids mentioned. The consular pointed it out to my husband he said "it wasn't the kids but her ex husband." He seemed ok with that.
Then... read complete review

My interview was scheduled for November 26, 2008 but the clinic I chose (Clinica Angloamericana) gave me the appointment for the medical examination two days before: one day for the X-ray and analysis and another day to get the results. My medical appointment took an hour and a half during which time I had a blood test and the exam. However, they sent me to another clinic on the same street as the Embassy (30 minutes away, walking) for the X-ray. The next day I went to get the results and they gave me the X-ray and an envelope for the Embassy. It took 20 minutes. Finally, I went to the American Embassy on November 26 at 9:30, my scheduled time, but they didn't allow me to come in because I had my documents in a briefcase. The guards at the entrance said that I had to leave it somewhere within 30 minutes. I was desperate but in the end, I found a little Indian restaurant with really kind people who kept my briefcase and I ran back to the Embassy just in time. Once inside with ONLY th... read complete review
