Appointment was for 30 Sep 2019, 9am.
Summary: had a first 5 minute chat (handing over the docs) right away after arrival, then 1.5 of waiting, then 8-minute "main" interview. In at 8:50am, out at 11:08am. Result: approval.
8:40 - I got to the embassy doors, there was a long queue.
8:50 - I showed my passport and DS-160 confirmation page, got some kind of hand-written mark on the form and was let in. Then I quickly got through airport-style security.
9:00 – I got inside the building, there was another long queue at the reception.
9:10 – The receiptionist called out if there was anyone with immigration visas, I stepped out and asked if K1 qualified for it, she said yes and let me go agead of the queue immediately. She put a sticker with my queue number on my DS-160 confirmation page print out and told me to go to Level 1 using the elevator, then take a left and left again.
9:15 â... read complete review

Very easy and fast. Took us 1 hour to receive approval. Interview was short. Didn't ask to see additional evidence. Get there 1 hour early. You can store your phone across the street.

We got to the embassy early. They took our passports and then let us in. Everything was pretty standard. We had to go through security, get a ticket number, and wait. We walked in at 8:00am and left by 9:55. The consular officer was a very nice lady. She spoke both Russian and English. She asked a few questions and told us that they were waiting for our medical results, but that everything looked great. Honestly, she was very kind and I was grateful for that. She smiled a lot too. Overall, a good experience. It was nerve wracking waiting but her kindness really helped to calm me down.

My interview was at 8.15, i came to the Embassy at 7.30 and already had quite a few people in line in front of me. My advice would be to come at 6.30 to be in the first 10 people.
Before entering the gate, the security guard checks passports and after that you are allowed to get inside through the gate and wait in line for the Embassy to open.
Basically, you queue 4 times:
1) window outside - you submit your DS 160 and passport (make sure they attach the barcode to the DS 160 - to secure Pony express home delivery)
2) inside the building after security check to get the paper with number
3) when your number gets called - to submit the documents
4) when your name gets called - for the interview with the consul
All in all it took me about 4 hours from the entry to the exit.
The interview itself was short and very constructive, I have listed below the questions:
- When did you meet your fiance?<... read complete review
