Interview was at 9:45am and Maya was early. She had to her surrender cell phone before entering. She said that her wait was about an hour after entering before the actual interview. She was the only one there for the interview without her partner which made me kinda sad. When she was sworn for the interview, she didn't swear on a bible like one would think, it was a fingerprint machine. She was thrown off by that. The interviewer gave her the option to speak in Russian or English, she chose English. The interview was very straightforward and he asked about us, my job, and previous attempts to get a tourist and j-1 visa. She was confident with all the the questions but one: He asked about my sister for some reason. I think it is because we sited her as a person offereing her a job for a previous visa attempt, Maya was startled by it because she wasn't expecting it. She called me to say approved at 1130 Moscow time, so it must have been relatively fast for the wait. The only thing she commented on was the oath to tell the truth.
Many couples there for the K-1 interview, she was the only 'single'. Maybe Valentines Day was a factor? She was asked where I was, and she replied 'He has to work.'
The interviewer was a man, very professional. Interview was in both English and Russian. The interview lasted about 30 minutes. Many questions about my work, my mother, my house in Florida, and my house in Maryland. She was asked twice if she was sure that I have never been married. She explained that I lived with my ex, and her 2 daughters, for many years, but have never been married. She was asked several times if she still had her secret clearance (from Russia), and she said several times that she was retired, with pension, and the secret clearance had been revoked. The interview was easy going… but at one point he asked me questions about businesses listed on my fiance's tax returns. This was something that caught me off guard - because why would I know what one specific business or another does ?
Besides that, there were no issues. Even though I had plenty of documents prepared - he did not need look at any of them (proof or relationship, pictures,… text message copies… bank statements/letters… the works!)

Oksana said her interview was really easy. They asked her a couple of questions about our relationship and why she had gone back to Russia. She told the interviewer about her sick dad. They told her she would get her visa in a few days. All in all a pleasant experience.
