Interview was very smooth and straight forward. Was told it will take 1-3 weeks for information to be entered into their system. Visa was approved 1 month and 11 days later. Only downside was the wait during administrative processing.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

We had our interview for K-1 on June 9th. I accompanied my fiance, just to be sure that all doc's and items would be in place, which they were. I also brought along my DS-160 form and good sized stack of financials along with tax returns. Our appt time was 9:30am. We wound up getting there at 9 instead of 8:45 as planned. About 30 people lined up outside. All Russian citizens except myself. Took about 10 minutes to get inside, then another 20 minutes to get to the security check point. Then followed red dots up stairs to our registration window. About 10 other people in the small room, waiting for their # to be called for their interviews. Handed over all of her required docs and all of mine as well. Decided to hold back some optional financial docs and 300 pages of all our emails for the last 8 months and use those if needed during the interview. Waited about 45 minutes before we were called in. Friendly, younger U.S. man spoke fluent Russian and asked if she preferred Russian but we'... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

My petitioning fiancé couldn't be present at the interview (he is a primary caregiver to his father, we even requested a waiver for the condition of personal meeting within the last 2 years, and, it seems, our waiver was approved).

My original appointment was scheduled for April 7th, but on that day everything that could go wrong actually went wrong, I couldn't make it to my interview and prepared myself for the possibility of having to pay another $265 fee and scheduling again before the April 30th deadline (4 months since I-129F was approved by the USCIS). I called the embassy the next day to find out what I should do in my case, and I was pleasantly surprised to be reminded of something I've read a long time ago and have forgotten since: I could miss my appointments twice and reschedule until I have to pay the fee again. I was also lucky enough to get a new appointment on the very next Monday, April 11th.

On April 11th I got into the building around ... read complete review

My fiance and I had our k1visa interview at the US embassy in Moscow Russia. We were both nervous the day of our interview. From the moment we got to the embassy we were shocked as how fast the process took. We had our interview in the morning but we didnt have to wait in a long line outside. Once we got inside it was a fast check, and then we were sent to another floor for where the K1 visa interviews would take place. Once signing in and having our initial paperwork check we waited no more than an hour before we were called on in for our interview. From the moment we steped in the interview room the nerves went away. The man that would be interviewing us was so nice, friendly and welcoming. He only asked a few questions which took no more than 5 minutes. He then told us we were approved!

Review Topic: F-1 Visa

Oh, this is a magnificent building with a lot of history. I am a fan of late George F. Kennan and have heard tell of many of what had happened there in the past.

There were lines of worried people and generally nice consular officers. I don't remember specific questions (this was back in 2009) but the officer I talked to mentioned her cousin who taught in the school I was going to.
