We had our interview for K-1 on June 9th. I accompanied my fiance, just to be sure that all doc's and items would be in place, which they were. I also brought along my DS-160 form and good sized stack of financials along with tax returns. Our appt time was 9:30am. We wound up getting there at 9 instead of 8:45 as planned. About 30 people lined up outside. All Russian citizens except myself. Took about 10 minutes to get inside, then another 20 minutes to get to the security check point. Then followed red dots up stairs to our registration window. About 10 other people in the small room, waiting for their # to be called for their interviews. Handed over all of her required docs and all of mine as well. Decided to hold back some optional financial docs and 300 pages of all our emails for the last 8 months and use those if needed during the interview. Waited about 45 minutes before we were called in. Friendly, younger U.S. man spoke fluent Russian and asked if she preferred Russian but we'd decided for her to try it in English. Interviewer assured her her English was fine and she'll get along easily in America (a great thing to hear at beginning of the interview!). We had practiced 100s of possible questions for months now and my fiance was well prepared. All he really asked about was how we met (free Russian dating site) what she liked about me from the site and then details for our initial meeting a couple months later. She stumbled a bit on details of our visit together, but he & she laughed about it and I was allowed to interject to get it all straight. He asked some formality questions on the protections she has and rights to not be abused in any way, etc. Gave us a big smile and said "You're approved". It took all of maybe 10 minutes. It was such a wonderful feeling after so many months and so much paperwork. He advised she will get her passport & visa by pony express within 2 weeks. I forgot to ask if they would email tracking details and now I'm kicking myself a bit as I'd already booked tickets for her exactly 14 days from interview date. They are changeable for a small cost, but we're banking on her getting the visa in hand on a pretty tight schedule. All in all, a smooth and pleasant interview process if you prepare everything carefully & exactly.
