I made the trip to Manila to boost my fiancee's confidence by holding her hand thru the interview process. Plenty of girls pass the interview without their fiance being with them, but I think it adds credibility to the "love story". Anyway, if you have ever been to a government office, such as the Dept of Motor Vehicles, then the American Embassy in Manila will seem familiar to you. It was very bureacratic, starting with the line to get in the building. We arrived at about 6am for our 7am appt. It was still dark outside. We lined up and eventually filed thru security and into the building. Btw, here is a visajourney link that I found very helpful for other interview experiences. For reference I am going to use the map that was posted on the entry titled "Flow Of The Embassy Interview", http://ducecoop.com/interview/ . We sat in the seats and after about 10 minutes we were told to go to the CR window (lower left of the map). That is where we ... read complete review

Interview was VERY TYPICAL compared to the other positive reviews that the manila embassy received. Of course there were long wait times and lots of different people. However, sitting next to people that were in the same boat as me (k1 visa applicants) helped pass the time. The consul was a caucasian male who was very polite and asked me questions about my job, justin, my son, what we did for a living, and general questions about our relationship. After the interview he said we were done and that all we needed was a co-sponsor and to return anytime M-thurs before 1pm! As many people have said, normally the USEM does NOT accept co-sponsors for k1 visas. BUUUT, in our particular case, HE DID ALLOW US!! This proves that on a case by case basis, although very rare, the USEM does allow cosponsors. Unfortunately, i do NOT know the qualifying criteria since our case didn't seem any more different than any other cases we've talked to people about. So upon returning with our cosponsor's paperwo... read complete review

Got white slip but easily fixed with requested papers turned in at end of the business day. Visa received 1 month after. Thought USCIS and NVC would have caught the mistakes not the consular. Oh well probably best the consular did otherwise NVC or USCIS would have been longer delay.

We arrived for the visa interview early in the morning. My Fiance was able to go with me to the interview. The process was very well organized given the number of people there. We had a preliminary interview/review of all the documentation required. My USA Fiance was told to let me answer the questions unless asked specifically by the Consulate. We waited another 30 minutes before the final interview..was told right then we were approved! Next step was to get our Visa packet mailed to my house. Couple things that we wish we knew before. In addition to the Visa, you must get CFO Sticker and Guidance and Counseling Certificates prior to leaving. Unfortunately we had to make another trip to Manila to take care of this (If we knew we could have taken care of part of this while in Manila). The Philippines will not let you leave the country without this sticker on your passport, as well as your Certificate (Counseling). You can get the Certificate before the Visa, but you must ha... read complete review
