Review Topic: K1 Visa

My interview was really like a casual conversation. The CO was nice. He greeted me good morning and eve ask how I am doing. Just ask me questions that was already on the forms. I didn't get nervous because his face was calm and friendly. The only problem i have was my fiance filled of of the fields wrong of his I-134, and he was nice of saying what was the problem so i would know why i can't get my visa that day. But i have it now! Thanks everyone who helps us out!

Once inside the embassy the it was a very easy and professional process all the way. Everything was on time.

The only reason I say once inside is because of an overzealous security guard that kept yelling at my fiancee about a pair of scissors that we forgot to remove, we said take and she still kept yelling, making my already nervous fiancee panic..anyway..

Consul that interviewed us (I came along for the interview) was polite and spoke tagalog. I (USC) was interviewed more than my fiancee. I was asked how me met, my age, even though our age difference was just 2 years. Where I worked and lived, when we planned to get married. That was it. We receieved the visa in 3 days.

Visa approved today. Here's a rundown of our experience...

Appointment was scheduled for 7am on March 3, 2010. The appointment letter suggests to arrive at the USEM an hour earlier. We get there around 6:15am. We were greeted by several helpful guards and was directed in the K1 Visa line. No one was there and the person checked and confirmed that we were on the official list. We were then directed to another line for Gate #2. We waited about 5 minutes and entered the security area where they x-rayed our bags and walked through the metal detector.

After the security room, we followed the signs and found the Immigration Visa room. Here, another guard directed us to a short line where two girls were checking on the completeness of the DS156, DS157 and DF156k. There was a slight hiccup with the pictures. We had given two additional photos at the medical in St. Lukes and they said they were going to forward that to USEM. We should have glued her pict... read complete review

Interview was scheduled Feb. 28 at 10 am, I suggest all applicants from Dubai to leave as early as posible as the current traffic situation in Abu Dhabi is worst compared to Dubai. First you need to wait outside the Bldg., there will be a separate qeue for Immigrant and Non Immigrant, K1 is considered Immigrant. The security is quite strict and I went through 3 security check up but that is not a problem. Once you are inside go to the cashier area directly to get your number and wait till you get called by the consul.

When its my turn the nice Arabic consul took the following documents as per his check list:

1. DS Forms (156, 156k,157, 230)
2. Original Birth Certificate
3. I 134 (Notarized)
4. My fiance\\\' 3 yrs.Tax Documents, W2s, Bank Statement and Salary Certificates.
5. 2 pp Pictures (Please attached the pictures to your DS 156 before hand)
6. Original Passport
7. 4 copies of Pictures of me and my fiance tog... read complete review
