When Luis and I arrived at the Embassy, there was a long line to enter, but it only took about 10 minutes to get inside. If you take any electrical devices or cell phones, they will take them and give you a number to retrieve your items when you leave.

When you enter the actual consular section, you will go through a metal detector and all your bags will be searched. Then you find a place to sit, and wait to be called.

The first window we were called to, they asked for the 156, 157, and the passport. (Be sure to have 2 copies of the 156 with photos attached.) The second window we were called to, they took all of our paperwork (i.e. police certificates, medical results, I-134 with supporting documents, marriage certifcate) and our photos. Then my husband was given a brief interview in Spanish, and we were instructed to wait again.

Finally, we were called to Window 9 (although most people were called into a room for their final interv... read complete review

Everything went pretty smoothly... my fiance came with me, we were there 45 minutes before the time of the interview, waited in line outside the consulate, then entered a long room with a lot of windows and with very uncomfortable benches... I was first called to a window and gave the affidavit of support, medical, biographic info and DS 156. Then waited for an hour. Called again to another window to show the proof of relationship... my fiance was standing right beside me and we just showed them the boarding passes of his trips to Lima (he came to visit 3 times in the 5 months I was in Peru) and the lady said that was enough... so much for the printing of emails and gathering of a LOT more info... she asked us how we met, when I last left the US, since I asked for an extension I told her about that and presented the updates of that case (they never answered)and then we waited some more.... We arrived at 7:30am... at about 1:00pm they called us again and this guy took my fingerprints an... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Here's a description of my DP's visa interview. We went on Monday and arrived at 8:45 for a 9am appointment. I went with my DP and brought along our 15 month old son. We waited until they finally reviewed the first set of his papers (voucher of payment, the forms from packets 3 and 4) and then we sat down again to wait for a LONG time. I didn't get a chance to talk to any other K-1 applicants because it was a struggle keeping the baby entertained. The room was very crowded and I didn't notice any other American citizens with Peruvian fiancees. Then we were called to window 9 where a Peruvian embassy official reviewed some of the financial papers, asked for the birth certificate of the baby, looked at my passport and made a few initial questions (how many times have i been to peru, how did we meet, etc). The two major snags were that 1. he's not listed as the father on the birth certificate yet (we delayed sending in the papers because we couldn't agree on whether or not to change the b... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

DCF through Tokyo, Japan was nice and easy!

We applied for a CR-1 through DCF in Tokyo, Japan. The interview appointment was for september 11, 2006 at 2 pm. There were few people for appointment for different visas... maybe 15.

We were received by a woman how checked my husband on a list. Then she gave us a number and a plastic file where we arranged documents in the order specified on a checklist.

We sited until our number was called. The first official greeted my husband in japanese (he does not speak english) and took our plastic file. She checked on a list all the docs received ans asked us to sit until called.

Minutes later another official called my husband for finger printing. This one talked in spanish what was great to hear.

Sited again until the last official called us. She said that I might be present in the interview. That was the final interview, and in japanese she asked how we met, if we have ... read complete review
