We went in for the visa interview at 8am. As we approached the embassy on foot the locals were pasteing on the visa photos for a few soles (money). I skipped the service because I knew the consolate had glue to do that. Anyway the lady that took the forms asked why they were not pasted and we told her that it was not stated to do that and she nodded and reluctantly pasted them on the ds-156 forms.
Of course we arrived at 7:20 am and were admitted early. I am the US citizen and i followed my fiancee as she was requested. First the ds-134 and financial papers and next the photos ...of course I was present so that helps alot in Peru...Or so I've heard. The final window call was about 2 hours into the visit and he simply asked me why I wanted to marry her and her why she loved me. Then he spoke in spanish, which I'm still learning, to her two girls. He told them about Florida and ended with... "Have fun in Florida". We then took the DHL slips to the DHL counter an... read complete review

Today (01/04/2007 [mm/dd/yy]) I just get my VISA K-1 at Lima, Peru USA embassy. My appointment was for 7.30 am, the first turn, I went at 7.00 am. I was the third in the line.
I was very very nervous. We went into the bulding at 7.30 am and I was called to the window number 10. It was a lady that spoke in spanish to me, she just ask me for the forms DS-156 (2), DS-156K (1), DS-157 (1), medical certificate, Banco de la Nacion Invoice, and evidence of the relationship like boarding passes, letters, and pictures. After that she asked to take sit. I waited for about 15 minutes !! ... AWFUL ... and then I was called to the window number 9, there was a man in his fourties, and the first he said was "..there is a problem ..... " ( I was dying at that moment ) but then "...with the computer..." ... wow I freaked out ... then he said "..take sit I'll call you again..." (at this point all the conversation was in spanish).
I was waiting and he start calling to the other persons, I s... read complete review

I would say that in talking with my wife(married on Nov.25, 2006), that her experience with the Embassy in Lima, Peru was very favorable. She did have to wait three different times(once in a line to get inside the embassy), and 2 times before two seperate interviews. She said she was worried at first, because many of the people were having their visas denied from what she could gather, but those people had been interviewed for travel visas.
Her first interview was with someone different, than the lady conducting travel visa interviews. She was allowed to bring her son (13 yrs.) for the interview. The entire interview was in Spanish(since she speaks no English) and she said the lady was really nice to her. She asked her questions like, "How did you meet your fiance?" "Can you tell me about his family?" "Do you have some photos of you two together?"
Her second interview was later and covered some of the same questions. She was told after her second interview that her ... read complete review

From my point of view, if you try to put together a good packet and follow the advice on this site-and are not trying to snow them-everything will turn out well. I was unable to attend the interview with Karinna since I returned to the U.S. ahead of her. She went with her daughter. She was well prepared. I sent a copy of my most recent check, bank statements showing I had made withdrawals in peru, our leasing contract for the apartment we shared, and many extras. The only evidence they asked for were the photos and the contract, Karinna tells me. The process went smoothly. She arrived at 8am and was out by about 10am. Despite being unsure of my daughter's age and not knowing when I was divorced, she had no problem. I think it was due in part to the fact that she was over-prepared. She kept offering evidence and they said they didn't want to read anything. The visa was received at DHL two days later. Sincerity, honesty and preparedness are the keys. 90% of those I met in Lima who were t... read complete review

Hello everyone, here is my personal experience .My interview was on Nov.3rd.I went by myself because Jamie was unable to make it.I got there around 7:15 for my interview at 7:45 am.There were 7 people in front of me already, but we only wait for about 15min. before we all went inside the embassy .I was called to the first window about 30 minutes after I entered. The lady only asked me for my passport, forms DS-156(2) w/two pictures attached and DS-156K.Then, after another 30 minutes ,I was called again. Now, another lady asked me for my medical, police records, birth certificate and form I-134.Plus,my fiancee's W-2s forms. After she checked those, she asked for e-mails and photos. She went through my pictures and aske me wuestions about them, like : Who is this person?...When was this taken?. Then, she asked me to wait again .At that point, it was aroun 9:30am.So I though I will be leaving soon, either happy or sad...because a lot of people were there... read complete review
