Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

The process of getting to the embassy, security checks etc. has been described in great detail before, so I am not going to rehash that again. Everything went as described.

Once settled in the waiting area, my wife was called at window 8, where an American, middle-aged woman was waiting for her. She was by herself. After the oath, she asked the following questions:

Who is calling you to US?
What does he do there?
How did you guys meet?
When did you get married?
How long has he been in US?
How did he get his immigration?

The counselor was checking the answers on a computer screen and constantly typing. She had all the paperwork that had been submitted to the NVC arranged in two piles before her.

Once my wife had answered all the questions, the counselor returned one pile of paper, which had all the originals as well as all the documentation that had been submitted as proof of our relationship... read complete review

Left hotel at 6:30 am with my father, reached shuttle service at 7:15 am and submitted my mobile, then took ticket for shuttle (Rs. 500), if you are taking your family members do keep their orignal NIC as well. From this point i decided to go alone and asked my father to return back to hotel as family members were not allowed in emabassy and they had to sit on shelterless benches for hrs and hrs.

After going through first security check i submitted my bag on one counter then i lined up with rest of the applicants of immigrant visa, i was cleared to the embassy with in half an hour at 8:10 am. Electronic gadgets are not allowed inside. no mp3 players, no iPods, no laptops. Once through the security, i was in the waiting area where they took my fingerprints with in 15 minutes.

Then at 9:15 am a white male late 40's called my name at window 4 and said good morning, asked me to take oath that every information I am going to provide is true, then in casualy pol... read complete review

Hi All,

Had Interview on 6th April 2012. It was Friday and there was only immigration interview scheduled. I was the first who entered in embassy and had first interview too

I had like 30 minute interview and it was very detail interview. Visa officers asked like 20-30 questions with various aspects and it was quite tough. Not easy though. After interview he gave me green slip and said case is going for administrative process and will take few months.

Administrative process finally over in September and got visa
