My husband woke up bright and early and went to the embassy! He got there 4 hours early and he was told to wait. He got to his officer for the interview finally and was very nervous. (I did not go with him to the interview, I am still in the USA). At any rate they asked him over 30 questions. 1. How long did you know your wife before you met her? 2. What is your wife's full name? 3. Why do you love your wife and why did you want to marry an American? 4. What made you go online to meet a wife to relocate to the USA? 5. Can I see some evidence of your marriage?<-Just to name a few of his questions. The interviewer was an American man with dark hair and he was very stern voiced. He told my husband he was approved and could pick up his visa and passport in a few weeks. So, I guess no AP! :0)

My interview was held on Dec 22 2008. I was told all was good and they will put on Administrative Processing. I was told that it will take 4 to 6 weeks and some take longer but they not give a time. They also kept my passport.
My wife visited to Embassy 3 weeks later and asked about our case status. She was told that all cases that go in AP are sent back to USA, where the processing is done. She was told it is taking on an average of 2 months to go thru processing. They gave her a number to call in USA to asked about case status.

Best to get to the Convention Center area by 6:00.
My husband went with me, which made life much easier for me since he carried the "burden of evidence" throughout. I wear a hijab and an abaya and had actually been told by some people (not on VJ though) that the CO is bound to use that against me.
Once we were inside the embassy, after fingerprinting, my husband and I were told to go to the waiting area and wait for my name to be called out. I was the third one they called for immigrant visa.
First Window: Took Rs. 11,330 (didn't have $ on me).
Second Window:
GUY: Who's here with you?
ME: My husband.
I called my husband.
GUY (to my husband): How are you, sir! When did you arrive?
HUSBAND: A year ago.
The guy rose his eyebrows at that.
GUY: What have you been doing here all this time?
My husband told him he's still working for his emp... read complete review

Guys my fiancee had her interview for K1 visa today. Just wanted to share her experience with you. I am not gonna go into the details of waiting in line
for the ticket at convention center and yada yada (i guess by now everyone knows that whole ordeal).. However it is good to know that ppl applying for K1 visa are suppose to stand in the "immigrant visa" line even though it is considered a "non immigrant visa".
She said the actual interview portion of the process literally took 5 mins. They did not even bother to check her proof of engagement (which she had plenty..). She said the CO only asked her the following questions:
1) What does your "husband" do? (to which she right away replied that i am her fiancee and not her husband yet.. not sure if it was unintentional or if they were trying to trick her)
2) Are you two relatives?
3) Why do you want to marry him?
4) Are you gonna work once you are in US?
After that ... read complete review

We reached the convention centre around 6 15 am. There was already a line of cars outside the gates which were closed. So you have to get out and walk inside. There was already a line outside the ticket counter at 6 30 am and I was able to get the ticket for the first bus that left.
At the embassy there was initially finger printing, then they asked for the medical report, and then the filing fee. Finally I got the call for the interview.
The interviewer was an American and very nice. He asked me just a few questions:
Who is calling you?
Was this an arranged marriage?
Where did you two meet?
What are his best qualities?
Then he said congratulations and everything is in order. He said I should get a call in 10 day from AMEX to pick up my passport!
One confusing thing though: He did take a verbal oath from me but he did not ask me to sign the DS 230 Part 2. And I also forgot about it till I had left the embassy. I ho... read complete review
