My husband is a Lithuanian citizen, living in Norway, and was interviewed in Sweden for his visa (as they handle all of Scandinavia). So we were definitely worried about making sure that we had all the correct documents and translations into English, but in the end all was accepted without issue.
His interview was scheduled for 8am and he got there maybe 15 minutes before that time, went through security, and had his documents looked over by the first lady. Then he was seated and waited for his interview. When he was called up the officer was actually training someone else, and the trainee was more nervous than my husband!
They asked a few simple questions such as how we met, how we communicate, and what his family thought of his move. In less than five minutes, she handed back all the paperwork and photos my husband had brought (minus the passport) and told him he was approved. All in all, he was in and out in less than two hours. We're awaiting delivery... read complete review

The interview at the embassy in Stockholm was great. I stayed at a hotel that was a short 5 minute walk from the embassy. After reading others reviews about the lines and how they can appear confusing I made sure I got in the right one. Appointment was scheduled at 8:00 am, and I got there around 7:30 am just to be safe. I was let in through security right after 8, and was first in line to hand in the papers requested. After that I had to wait for about an hour, 90 minutes for the actual interview. The man interviewing me was really nice, and I was told at the end that I would get my visa within 10 business days.
He asked me a few questions like how we met, when we started dating, how many times we’ve seen each other, when we got engaged, when I last spoke with him, when I last saw him.

The embassy was a ten minute walk from a small hotel. They take your phone but give it back.
It went very smoothly and quickly, as I suspect it does for everyone who has gotten this far and who remembers all their paperwork. I was in and out in less than 90 minutes. (I was prepared for it to last forever). Get in the right line though! They are properly marked with signs.
You wait at a table for your first interview, a perfunctory one with a local staffer. After that, go sit in the waiting room chairs and wait for them to call you for a second interview, this one slightly less perfunctory, with an American embassy worker. They ask simple questions and they don't "test" you. Each interview lasted no more than five minutes. My application was approved there and then, it seemed like a foregone conclusion.
The interviews are done standing at the windows and everyone else in the waiting room can hear you. I'm sure you can insist on a private r... read complete review
