Really easy, far easier than I thought. Had my appointment at 9am, arrived about 15 minutes earlier, just one other person in front of me, in the immigration line.
The Lady behind the counter, was lovely and pleasant, went through my file, giving me stuff back that they no longer needed, like my originals and the extra tax information that they didn't need. Only ask for my passport with my previous J1 visa in it, also gave her my other passport with my stamps from previous trips to the USA in it. Finger prints were done.
Questions she asked was when are we planning on going to the USA. Said oh you have a child, how old is he, my reply she is two. Does she have a US Passport - yes. Did I bring in a courier envelope - yes. Do I work - No, but my boss is tough (referring to my child), Also said the address my green card is going to go too (couldn't say my mother-in-laws name, which I corrected her) Okay great it all look good, an officer will need to... read complete review

Just some quick notes on my experiences from in NZ before i get to the interveiw reveiw.
i booked my medical exam as soon as i received interveiw date from nvc.(nvc emailed interveiw date.)Medical was with Dr Marcus Stone.377a Remuera Rd.ph (09)520-1565.He was awesome. Was there probably about 20 mins.My appt was at 1.00 pm and i was at the X-ray facility (which is about 2 mins down the road by car)by 1.30 pm.Was done with x-ray by 2.00 pm and just had to walk around the corner(about another 2 mins)to get a blood test which took 10 mins.Back at medical centre to drop off x-ray results by about 2.20pm.Oh and there is a free public carpark behind the medical centre too,so thats another bonus.
I live about two and half hours from Auckland. My interveiw at consulate was for 8.30am.Went down evening before and stayed at Rendezvous Hotel, corner of Mayoral Drive and Vincent St.(basically right opposite Auckland central police station).Cost $136.00 a night.Parking (... read complete review

I sent packet 3 back on the 27th January, on the 2nd February I sent them an email asking if they had received my packet 3 and if they had set me an interview date. They replied to my email within the hour saying that yes they had packet 3 and they had sent out packet 4 that day and my interview was on 10th February at 8.45am. I freaked as I still hadn't had my medical
I left Glen Eden at 7.30 thinking I would have plenty of time as my appointment was at 8.45am. As it turned out at 8.47 I was sitting outside the consulate on the wrong side of the road stuck in traffic, thank goodness my daughter was with me so I jumped out of the car and she drove it away to park it.
The security guard was very nice, asked to see my passport and took my cell phone and put it in a locker, giving me a yellow card with my locker number on it. He advised me to go to window 3.
When I got inside there already was a couple at window 3 and a few other people... read complete review

My interview was for 10 am in the morning and have to travel 4 hours to get there so i started out very early on in the day, Auckland tends to have a few busy times with regards to traffic, early morning and late evening, so i gave myself an extra hour to deal with that and finding parking.
parking itself in Auckland is pretty easy, alot of parking all over, just look for the big blue and white parking P's and follow the arrows. i managed to find a place just a few mins walk away from the embassy.
the embassy itself was nice as easy to find, has a big american flag sticking out of the building. walking in there was three elevators, one seemed reserved for consulate business but i was told to take one of the other two elevators to the third floor. As soon as you step out of the elevator you are confronted with security and you move to your left and line up and wait to be admitted. I arrived ~45mins early and it was not... read complete review
