On July 21st I had my Medical (€ 145,-), the appointed Doctor did a quick check, gave me one vaccination (DTKP € 35,-) and took some blood. Next stop that day was the X-ray (€ 50,-) and that only took 10 minutes.
On July 28th I had my Interview on the American Consulate in Amsterdam, got to the Consulate at 13:15 pm and there was already a line. At exactly 13:30 pm security opened the gate and asked the people with an appointment to step forward and come in, and then he asked who did not have electronic equipment with them and because I left my cell phone home I could immediately step to the front of the line and was directed to window 5. The very nice young lady asked for all the forms, their copies and proof of payment (€ 263,-) took my finger prints and signed of the documents, it took no longer than 10 minutes.
After about a 20 minute wait I was called to window 6 where the CO took my oath and asked where I and my fiance met, I answered that we... read complete review

Ok, so this will be my first ever review! I thought it would be very useful for other people in this forum to read about the experiences I have made with the consulate in Amsterdam, Netherlands. I had a the interview scheduled for June 27, but then they called me on my cell phone to ask me if i can come in earlier as well which was perfect for me. I had an appointment at 13:30 but was there at 13:00 to be the first one in line. They were just a few other people waiting as well so it did not really make any differences. I went straight to window 5 to present my documents. They only wanted to see the all the financial documents of my fiance, my birth certificate, proof of payment, two pictures, and my police report from Germany. I handed those information with my passport and also asked if they need pictures, phone records, airline tickets but the lady said they dont need it. I had to give my fingerprints and then was send to the main room. I waited there for 30 minutes and then got call... read complete review

Very fast, friendly and helpful officers. Absolutely no problems at all - rescheduling my interview to an earlier date was possible. Long waiting time at the consulate though, so bring some time when you're at your interview in Amsterdam . Time from interview till receiving visa: 7 days (with weekend and one holiday)

I had a 1.30pm appointment. Security was fairly easy to get through since I had left all of my electronics in a locker at the Amsterdam train station.
There were 4 or 5 people in front of me in line for the first booth, which meant I had to wait a while, about 45mins.
My turn came up and the lady was very nice and asked me for all the paperwork and proof of payment, etc. After that I had to wait for the consular officer to call me to his booth. This also took a while, and I was becoming slightly nervous. The nervousness turned out to be unnecessary, because I was only asked two easy questions* about the relationship with my fiance. After answering these questions the consular officer let me know I will receive my passport with the visa in the mail next week. All in all a very smooth experience for me at the Amsterdam consulate!
(*Questions asked: 1. When did you get engaged. 2. Where did you two meet)

We got there around 2 hours early and went to a bistro a block over to rest a bit since it was cold and raining outside, we got some soup for lunch and talked a bit about the paperwork and feeling a little nervous, but we were both pretty confident and reassuring each other that we'd do fine.
We left the restaurant about 20 min before the 1:30 interview time and waited at the gate, there were already several people there also waiting for security to let us in, they came exactly at 1:30 to open the gate. The security let those without electronic devices go first in line (me and Geert already knew about this and left everything electronic behind except our passports and paperwork.) We had an umbrella which they put aside for us to pick up later.
When we walked inside we also had to walk through a metal detector before getting into the office, but got through it quickly enough. When we finally got inside they told us to go to window number 6, we waited in line a few ... read complete review
