Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

It was a hot day and I was alone with my two year old toddler. The Q was long. Luckily some really nice guys gave me way to go ahead seeing how I struggled with my daughter. It's a new place, she is hot and cranky and wants to be carried. The guards are really nice and polite especially the one stationed inside (I would be too if I was working in an air condition office on a hot day )

Other then that, the interview was simple and straight forward. They asked the basics. Didn't even asked to see the pictures. A relief since my husband hates having his pics taken. They asked if my daughter needed a visa. Dude, I am married for 4 years and she is 2.. do your math ;P No, the visa was only for me. It was very quick process but the wait was long.

No biggy, the restrooms are there in the waiting room, there is even a water cooler. When I forgot baby milk, they were nice enough to let me get it out of the backpack at the guard house. Overall ni... read complete review

Our visa interview on Nov 22 has been approved.

Here is the review:

We had our interview scheduled for 9am and we arrived in front of the embassy about 8:40am. People started to wait in the line and 2 guards were checking their interview letters. While we were about to walk to the end of the line, the guard asked if we have appointment and I told him that I am a U.S. Citizen and do have an appointment. He quickly put us in front of the line so we could enter the building faster.

After the security checked and left our cell phones, we walked into the main building and there is another guard pointed us to get a number. We were told to wait in another room since the 1st room already full with people.

We were called to Counter 9 after about 15 minutes of waiting. One gentleman came and asked for our interview letter and walked away to look for our folder. Then he came back and checked/organized our documents and asked for the medi... read complete review

The interview went very smoothly. I went to the consulate with my mum but she had to wait outside for me. We got there at 8am and got passes at 8.30 and entered at about 9.15am and handed in my documents at 10am. I brought a small album full of photos but since it couldn't fit under the window, the lady told me to hang on to it until my actual interview and to show the officer the photos. We hung out at KLCC and went back at 1.15pm and waited till 2pm for the interview. My fingerprints were taken first and then after a while I was called to the window. My interviewing officer was a chinese-american guy and he was very polite and kind. He asked me basic questions, like what does my fiance do for a living, where he works, and what is his date of birth. It was very brief. I offered to give him the photos but he declined. He didn't need to look at them because it seemed like he had made up his mind. He stamped my forms and passport and told me I was approved and told me to wait for... read complete review

The only thing I didn't quite agree with was the fact that it was done over a loudspeaker where there's no privacy and everyone can hear you! Also, the interview time is not exactly always on time. But you gotta be there early. Waiting 3 hours to come back after submitting your documents could be done away with in my opinion.

Other than that, very friendly, affable & helpful people. Not much fuss. Questions are easy to answer as long as you are truthful. It ain't rocket science after all!

Just make sure you have your sponsors latest Tax returns in order in case those were not submitted earlier (especially if your interview is in the 1st half of the year).

Pleasant experience. Simple questions. Just make sure you have your originals of court and other legal documents. I had original divorce decrees but one looked to be just a copy. He thought it was a copy and first said he could not approve us, devastated. We left the embassy and got outside with our letter and what else we needed and we were shocked! I thought for a second and I said this is the original and if I contact the County Courts for another original, this is all they will send to me. So my Fiance said to go back in so we did and after I confronted that guy again with the argument that this is all I will get if I requested another certified original, he took her passport and tore up the letter. Thank You God! So much time and work put into this whole process, not to mention the plans that were made for after her arrival into the states. I am so glad I was able to be there with her at the interview, if not she would not have been able to argue as I did, because I was the one wh... read complete review
