DAY 1 - MEDICAL VISIT at "Istituto Varelli" - January 28th 2019
My parents drove me to Naples super early in the morning to get to the clinic on time, I got in at 7.30am and got a ticket from one of the machines at the entrance pressing the button that says "consulate" and a lady at the front desk called my number right away, checked my passport, gave me a few stickers with a bar code and my name on them (which go on blood and urine samples), I signed a document regarding privacy matters and then she told me to wait for the blood and urine test and showed me the room where I had to go. This first part was super fast and the nurse called me as soon as I finished at the front desk and got my blood and urine samples. For anyone wondering, if you are on your period, it is no problem at all, you can still do the medical, they don't have any problem with that. I was number 8 in line so I would suggest, like many others did before me, that the earlier you'll get to the clinic t... read complete review

MEDICAL @ ISTITUTO VARELLI, Naples.
The medical is the day before your interview at the consulate. Meanwhile the consulate is kinda downtown (close to train stop "Mergellina"), the Istituto Varelli (where the medical takes place) is circa 7km from downtown. You would need a car to get there. I fortunately stayed at a B&B that has a shuttle service to it (it was just a lady working there giving a ride by car), but it was only 15euro round trip so it was convenient. They tell you to go there by 8, but the Istituto opens at 7 and earlier you go better it is, because you would have to take a number (C for consulate) and that would be your number for every step. When your number gets called you go check in and they would ask for your passport. Then you would get call for the blood tests, the nurse that takes your blood will give you also a container for your urine. Go to the bathroom and give it back to the nurse. Then they would tell you to go downstairs and you would get call in th... read complete review

It was a long and exhausting journey, and I hardly could believe that the day of my interview was coming. You will need two days in Naples. The first day is for the medical visit at the “Istituto Varelliâ€, the second one will be at the US Embassy in Naples for the real interview.
Luckily enough, I live close to Naples so, for the medical, I drove to the Istituto Varelli, that is located outside of the city center and it’s hard to reach by bus or train. I arrived at 6,30 am and I was the first in line. The Istituto opens at 7 am, so I had to wait outside for 30 minutes. When it opened I had to go to a kiosk and press the C button to receive my number. I was first called at the reception where a woman asked for my passport and checked my name on the embassy list. She gave me my passport and my number back and told me to wait to get called for the blood and urine tests. Shortly after I was called in a tiny room where a nice nurse asked for my passport and took my... read complete review

The most relaxing environment ever!!!
The medical exam takes place the day before, and it is basically like the DMV - first come first serve. My husband and I showed up at 7 am and we were first in line, a few minutes after 7 a bunch of people started showing up. The entire process took about 2.5 hours because of how chaotic it was in there. but it was quite simple and smooth. You must bring your passport and interview letter and 4 passport photos. They require 4! Do not get confused with what you read on other websites because we read 2 and 3 on other sites, but they require 4!
The day of the interview:
The interview was for my husband but I was allowed to go in with him because I am a US citizen, If you are not a US citizen, you will not be allowed to accompany your spouse in the US Embassy. They will make you wait outside. There is airport style security, but everyone is pretty nice.
They let you in based on your appointment time, our appointment... read complete review
