Had my interview a few days ago. It was scheduled for 1pm, I arrived around 12:50 and was let in straight away. Showed my passport to the security guards and went through airport type security. Had to leave my phone, car keys, headphones (basically anything electric) in a locker in the security hut. The guards are friendly and directed me where to go in the embassy.
I entered the embassy and the guard at the door asked me what I was interviewing for and then gave me a numbered ticket. I was the second person to arrive and sat waiting for about 20 minutes, during which time another 4-5 people arrived. I would recommend bringing something to read as there's a fair amount of waiting around. There's a waiting area with a few rows of chairs and then at the end of the room is a long counter with several partitions, similar to a bank. The embassy officials are behind glass and speak to you via a microphone and speaker. After a while my name was called and I went up and paid my ... read complete review

Well I had my IR-1 interview today and it was a completely pleasant experience. I genuinely have not a single complaint to make. The security guards were very nice and chatty and helpful. The first lady who took my passport / envelope / medical was nice and efficient and I had read there was some rude/fussy lady working there but it must not have been the lady I met because she was very nice to me.
The American man who took my fingerprints and asked me some really basic questions (how long have you been together, what is your profession, where will you live in the U.S.) was really sweet and kind and I had a huge grin on my face when he told me my application was all set and I just had to wait for my passport back in the mail. He was smiling right back. Just overall it was a lovely experience, there was not a long wait time and everyone was super nice. Very pleased with my day

What a relief to have that interview over with.
I arrived in Ballsbridge on the number 7 bus from Nassau street at 12pm. I was too early to start lining up so I took a walk around the area and tried in vain to find an internet cafe to check any last minute doubt I may have had about my paperwork. Mission failed, I grabbed a coffee and by 12.45 I was standing at the doors of the security checkpoint at the U.S. embassy.
I was invited to go through security check straight away with great ease. It was very busy in the embassy so I took my number and took a seat to wait in line.
First thing that was required was payment of the visa. Called up to the cashiers desk, I confirmed my name to a lady in the first booth and a very friendly man -in the next- took my payment of 240 dollars cash and I recieved a receipt and was asked to take a seat. About 20 minutes later, I was called up again to submit my paperwork. I submitted the following

Interview scheduled for 1pm. Arrived at 12.45, 5th in queue of about 15 people. Went through security around 1.10, they were nice and let me take a few bags in with me as I had a lot of documentation! They put my phone, headphones and water in a locker.
I was given a ticket when I entered the embassy, asked what type of visa I was applying for and told to take a seat. I was expecting a long wait but was called to a counter as soon as I sat down. A nice Irish lady asked me for the following documents: Passport, Birth Cert (I gave original but I think a copy would have done as she said I won't get it back), One passport photo (they never took the second one), Payment (I used Bank draft in Dollars), DS-230 Part 1, Form DS-156k (which she asked me to sign), and the i-129 with supporting info so gave her all the bank letters, letters of employment, wage slips, benefit printouts, and tax returns from the last four years. She looked through everything and then said that because... read complete review

We got approved at the interview on November 26th and we received the visa today in the post! Overall the interview was fine. Questions are below
- Where, when and how did ye meet?
- Why did ye decide to continue a long distance relationship?
- When and where did ye get married?
- Is your husband in America now? (This was asked in a couple of different ways)
- How many times has your husband been to Ireland?, how many times have you been to the states?
- Why have ye decided to move to the states?
- What is your husbands name (funny I know but when you are nervous the words fumble a bit). Who is your sponsor?
The Administrator is not very helpful at all. I, and everyone else had to rush out and get a bigger envelope. THE ENVELOPE SIZE IN THE INSTRUCTIONS POSTED OUT IS NOT BIG ENOUGH. You need a 14.5" x 18.5" (size K at An Post) envelope. Also there needs to be 12.50 euros worth of stamps on the envelope, not ... read complete review
