Due to the recent religious unrest toward US Embassy in Jakarta, I arrived about two and half hours prior to my scheduled interview. I was just being cautious should there be another rallies or protests. Fortunately, there was none.
I showed my appointment email letter (Packet 4) to the security guards outside and they let me in about ten minutes early. The guards scanned my bag and provided a tray for my cellphone to be kept with them as they don’t allow any electronic equipment inside the Embassy. The Embassy personnel are very friendly and helpful. They assisted my way within the compound to Windows 5 (per appointment instruction).
We have read some negative assertion from other reviews about the Indonesian lady who manages Window 5. The fact is that she has very low tolerance for people who cannot follow instructions, specifically hers. You need to make sure before you go to your interview:
1. Your forms and documents must follow the... read complete review

I attended my wife's interview which was at 12:30pm. We arrived 30 minutes early and had to wait outside until 12:30pm before we were allowed in. I asked the guard if I could join my wife, and he started to say no, but I showed him an email print-out from the Consulate that said I could go in, and after that he had no problem letting me in. We went right in, and in the lobby there was only one other person with us. He got his interview before us, and he just forgot one document, and had to bring it back before they could approve. After him, they called my wife's name after waiting about 1 hour. She went inside the room and asked if I could come in too, and the CO said "sure". He was very friendly, and just asked basic questions. The funny thing was, we already saw the approval stamp and white slip on his table before the interview, so I wasn't very worried. After it was over, he said "Ok, you are approved. Pick up your visa in 3 days." It was very fast and easy, no problems ... read complete review

The appointment was at 2 PM and we arrived at the Embassy early and was told to come back 4 minutes before 2PM by a nice Japanese security guard.
A little tip for the non-Tokyoites (who is doing interview in hot and humid Tokyo summer), choose the path from Tameike-Sanno station. Walking from Kokkai-Gijido-Mae station towards the embassy in summer is no fun at all. Plus, apparently, there is an underpass connecting Kokkai-Gijido-Sta and Tameike-sanno sta, a long walk but beats the heck out of walk along the area with no shade in the middle of Tokyo Central Government buildings (as you can perhaps guess from the name of the station).
Anyways, we waited at the building next to the Embassy since there's an Excelsior Cafe there (and yes, with full-blown AC), and when we went back to the Embassy, there's already a line in front of us. Sure enough, at 4 minutes to 2PM, they opened the door and the line moved quickly.
We went through security check, put our phones and oth... read complete review
