My fiance and I arrived at the consulate around 6:50 AM for our 7:15 appointment, there was already a large amount people waiting on the side walk. Around 7:15, one of the employees in the purple shirt called for applicants to form a line. They will check the passport and appointment letter before letting you inside.
Once inside, you will go through security/scanner. Make sure to not bring any electronics such as phones, or medical cd. Lots of people brought the medical cd and were told to give the cd to someone outside, which would make them lose their place in line. After going through security, the workers asked the applicants which language they preferred - English, Malayalam, Hindi.. applicants were grouped based on language preference. The workers will put everything in order, passport, birth certficate + copy, DS 160, PCC, medical packet, appointment letter, passport photos. Once seated the workers will give a token slip. Once your token is called, you will go up ... read complete review

The process was pretty smooth, but the wait was long.
This will be a 3-step procedure.
1st: Before giving you entry into the building. They will sort your documents here. You will see a LOT of tourist visa applicants moving in before you. Our appointment was at 8:30 AM, but we didn't go in before 9:15 AM.
2nd: You have to take a token number, which will be issued to you based on your language preference. You can pick English, Gujarati, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam- whatever you are comfortable with. Then you wait- for about an hour. When your number comes up, you go to the designated booth where an Indian Officer will bring out the document packet that you mailed them and will check all the documents you brought in- Mainly the Medical Certificate, Original PCC, AOS and the petitioner's tax papers. A lot of people didn't bring some of these papers and were sent back. The officer will ask you a few qs- if you have ever over stayed in any country an... read complete review
