We stayed at Trident Mumbai BKC, which was a very nice hotel just nearby and they also offer a dropoff in the morning directly at the gate of the consulate. We were standing across the road along with all the paperwork. They allowed my husband who is the petitioner along with me, once the timing was there. We left all cell phone and electronic devices. Then once everything was verified at the first window they asked us to reverify everything at another window inside. Then the process of waiting started until our token number is called. It took almost an hour and half for us to be called. Once we went to the window the CO asked my husband to wait until later he calls him. He asked me my name confirmed my identity and went ahead to ask me questions all basic general questions most of which you can find on this forum. Then he asked me to call my husband, then he asked him his duration of visit and asked us to show our pictures, we had carried a lot of them so he took everything and looked... read complete review

I had an interview today 24 July at 7.30. Reached consulate at 7am. The guy in purple shirt called to form a queue at 7am. Do not carry any bags at all as they don’t allow it in and there are lockers available from autorickshaw driver at 500. So better to leave all ur bags, mobile, pendrive, stapler and CD at home or hotel. There will be two lines one for non immigrant and one for immigrant visa. Get into immigrant visa line. Then they let me in where I went through security check like ones in airport and then to another room where purple shift boys and girls are there to assist you in organising the documents
Sequence to arrange documents
1. Appointment letter
2. Fingerprint ds260 form
3. Police clearance certificate (original and photocopy)
4. Birth certificate (original and photocopy)
5. Marriage certificate (original and photocopy)
They i was sent to a counter where there was an Indian officer who screened my... read complete review

Took an appointment for 7.15 at the Mumbai consulate. Got inside by around 7.20. Initial checking of documents by the Indian officer was quite systematic . She clearly made my file ( a red file that they allot to you) have everything nice and handy for the American CO
I waited for a good 90 minutes before being called by the CO. One thing that I've noted while sitting in front of the CO windows is that they already look through your file and point out red flags/ issues with it to other CO's and discuss it with them. I could see that one of the CO going through a K1 file and discussing it with his colleague before calling the beneficiary. The poor beneficiary was grilled for a good 20 minutes before being given the reject or 221g (Not sure but he didnt look happy) . My observation here would be that if the CO is asking you more details, it only means that they have seen a problem or critical data that is missing in your file and are grilling you for that reason.
