Interview date: May 06. 2008

Visa Approved

I arrived at the consulate at 7.15 a.m. for the 7.30 interview. Was taken in, fingerprinted and then told to wait for the first interview.
The first interview was conducted by an Indian who asked me to speak in Marathi(my mother tongue) and his too. He covered questions about my mother, my maternal grandmother, where I was born, where did I live in India, who lived there now, how did I meet someone from the same caste in the US, how long did we know each other, why did we wait this long to get married,. He also returned my proof of relationship stuff that I had submitted to VFS earlier. He then told me to wait for my visa interview.
About 45 minutes after that, I was called for my interview. My interviewer was an American lady. She asked me how I had met my husband, what visa status I was on when I met him, how long I had known him, how many people were at our wedding, what was my husband doing when... read complete review

The interview process went very smoothly and it went something like this:

1) They fingerprinted soon after entering the consulate.
2) Next was document verification but they simply accepted the demand draft. They did not ask for or check a single document - not even affidavit of support or bonafide marriage documents.
3) Next was the interview. The consulate officer asked five or so simple questions such as spouse's name, occupation, the time the two of us were together, etc.
4) Was asked to collect the visa that evening from the VFS office or wait to receive it by courier service in a few days.

Very quick once called to the counter...actual interview took less than 15 minutes. Having everything well organized from the start was a big help. Questions were the same as others have written, no surprises. Just be organized from the get go and things will coast smoothly.

Had the interview scheduled at 9 PM.Went in by 8.45.
Went and sat in the second building where usually all the interviews happen.

There were only women consular officers in the immigrant visa section.
One of the indian ladies called me by 10.30.Took my Medicals and PCC forms and the DD.Did a very casual interview while she collected the forms. Was very very sweet.Asked if it was a love marrigae, how long I knew my fiance, since when did we plan to get married, where i work, whether my parents will come for the wedding,If I had an engagement ceremony...and according to whose customs was the engagement ceremony conducted.
She went thro abt 40 pics i attached..and here and there asked few questions.
All in all very sweet and nice.

I had a visitor's Visa stamp prior. So she cancelled my visitor's visa in front of me,and asked me to wait for the next round of interview.Wishe... read complete review
