Our journey is finally over. Our interview was scheduled for 7:45 AM at New Delhi consulate. My husband and I reached the consulate at 7:15 and waited outside the gates along with 50 or 60 people. We were let in at 7:30, after showing the interview letter and passport. They have a desk outside the gates where you can deposit cell phones if you happen to carry them with you. Be sure to turn off the cellphone before giving it to them for safekeeping.

Once inside the building, they looked at the interview again, and assigned a number; we were the 2nd in line. Inside the building, we were asked to go towards the far end of the building and wait to be called. They opened the windows at 7:55. It took a long time for them to process the family ahead of us. We were called to the window at 8:15. The Indian interviewer asked my husband for medical report (which he had submitted to VFS), passport, and interview letter. He went and got our VFS package. We had submitted... read complete review

had my K1 visa at Mumbai consulate today..I got approved, well actually pre approved since I am missing my PCC from passport office( we already knew we would get 221 g for missing PCC) . All in all the interview was great.

I reached VFS at 6 30 am as I had a 7 30 am appointment. The bus came at 7 10, we reached the consulate by 7 20. The 7 30 appointments were sent in front of the line outside consulate.
Went inside after security check, got finger print taken and then waited to be called by pre screener.

I was called by the pre screener at 7 45. She took my affidavit of support, returned birth certificate. I told her I was missing the PCC. She said thats not an issue, I can give it later. She took my old and new passport as well. questions she asked-
- Is this the first marriage for you both?
- When did you come back from USA?
-How long were you there?
-When was the last time your fiance came to India?

My interview was on 2nd May, Mumbai consulate, India.
The 1st thing you are asked to do is give the fingerprints in front of the counter, where they also return you all the originals along with all those you have already submitted to the VFS earlier.
I didn't take cell ph with me, heard its hassle to keep it outside& I was alone. The same thing happened with me as someone has once mentioned here in this forum. My draft amount was wrong. The packet 4 said that the exchange rate would be 48 rupees whereas the fee instruction said it would be 47! So I had to go out of the embassy and make a new draft. Fortunately there's Bank of India right beside Mumbai Consulate which opens at 8 am. But I think when I came back to the embassy with the new draft my position in the que got shifted, but that's still ok!

Paper work is the most important thing and if you have that in order, you are less likely to be disapproved unless there is other complications.
They did... read complete review

Bad things:
1. phone staff are rude and not at all helpfully. We gave up after calling about 20 times.
2. Corruption - my husband was asked to take new phones when nothing was wrong with his photos. They have a photographer there in the embassy for just such a reason. R100.
3. My husband still had to pay the $404 visa fee and he only had $500 in 100s. so he gave that to the cashier who then expected my husband to leave a $96 tip saying he doesn't have change (even though he made change for everyone else). He also would not accept $400 and then the $4 in rupees. So my husband had to go find $4 change.

But my husband is used to the corruption in India so he still wanted to give the embassy a 5/5 because he said it was a good experience (except for the phone staff) I'd give the embassy a 4/5 and the phone staff 1/5.

My husband got there at 7:50 got in line and was told he could go right in. He turned in all the paper work ( I didn't tu... read complete review
