I was definitely BLESSED. The interview went as smooth as it gets w/o a hitch. The consulate offiers and the consul himself are among the friendliest and nicest people I've ever met.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was at 8:30 and arrived the embassy at 8:10. Security checked my bag at the entrance and requested my interview letter to check against his list of immigrant visa applicants. Allowed to go inside the building and walked pass the metal detecting machines, all bags were needed to go through the x-ray machines. Electronic devices were kept by the security.

Went upstairs to 1/F and waited in the interview room where there were 4 counters. There were 3 other intending immigrants there waiting already. Another 4 came in after me. Counters opened at 8:30 and officer called us to submit all necessary documents according to the checklist given by the security at the entrance. Around 9:00 the officer played a video of “how to fingerprint”. At 10:00 the officer called my name and started interview. A Cantonese speaking lady talked to me for 15 minutes and asked the followings:
Who applies the visa for me?
What’s his name?
When and where was h... read complete review

The interview was pretty casual. Since our case is very strong. My fiance visited me 10 times during the past 2 years, we had a lot of photos, boarding passes to support our relationship. We both have a stable job. Everything looks very good on paper.

The important thing I would like to mention is: an organized document really helped a lot - we had a checklist, then tagged every file according to the list. I was not the first in line, but after reviewing the document, I was the first to be called having the interview. The officer was very nice and asked some common questions:

1. How did you meet?
2. When are you going to move to the States?
3. Why did he visited so many times?
4. Are you going to work after moving to the States?
5. How about your parents in China?

My interview was delayed for 2 months due to my heavy workload. I traveled a lot and did not really have time to prepare all the things and submit the ... read complete review
