I went to the Starbucks in the Citibank Tower across the road first to get breakfast and relax (It opens at 6:30am).

My appt was at 8:30am so I went over at 8:15am. I went through the IV entrance and lined up inside to have my bags examined and hand over my phone. Once inside the building I went up to the first floor and turned right to go into the Immigration visa room.

Once inside I got my forms ready in the order they asked in the letter they give at the front door. They called my name and I went and handed everything in. I had a minor problem about my visa fee being lower than it should have been, but my lawyer had asked the consulate and they said I could pay on the day. Once the guy had all my forms and certificate, he took them back inside and I sat down to wait, this took the longest.

He came back and explained how I could pay the fee after the interview if I was approved. Then he asked me a few questions about my fiance and how we... read complete review

The Hong Kong USA Consulate was overall very efficient.

I was directed to a room on the 1st floor after going through security. There were a couple of people before me. I was interviewed at a counter in the waiting room, you can actually hear the whole process if you're waiting your turn.

The interviewer just asked a few questions on how we met and what my husband's job was. Only unusual question was what annoys me about my husband. I was missing some document so I didn't get my k-1 visa immediately but they told me right away that it was approved.

Interview schedule for Aug 15 at 8:30am.

Arrived at 7:50am and people were already waiting. I was too early so they asked me to take a seat first and go to 1/f at 8:15am.

At 8:15, they asked me to give them my phone. I went upstairs and wait for them to call my name.

At 8:40, a Chinese lady called me and first interview has started. She asked for the docs. Her questions were:

- who is petitioning for you? (My husband)
- how did u meet? (I told him that his classmates with my friend's wife and she introduced us by sending me a message on fb)
- of all the countries in Asia, why did he choose hong kong? (I told her that he was fascinated with Asia, but it happens that his friend knew someone in HK)
- did your husband tell his friend that he was looking for a wife? (No)
- what was his friend's intention why she messaged you? (Just to make friends, and show him around for when he would be here)

Took about 3 hours total, with the interview time lasting about 10 minutes with each interviewer. First interviewer just prepared you with the bulk of the questions and to check if there are inconsistencies within your app, then the second interview, makes you swear that all info is correct and approves you.

Everyone was really nice to me. Though I did see them ask questions that aren't tough, but in a tough way, to applicants that seemed to have holes in their stories.

They asked me things like where did you two meet, have you met each other's parents, how many times were you in the US, have you ever been arrested, what I studied when I was on a F1 visa in the US, what my fiance does for work and what he likes to do in his free time, where we plan to live, what I plan to do, etc. Very standard and easy to answer questions!

I received Packet 4 right before Christmas with the appointment date on 14 January 2014. I called the consulate to inquire if my fiance could attend, but the person that answered could not provide an answer and suggested me to send a request as "feedback" in the online scheduling system. For Hong Kong, the consulate schedules the appointment for you and you can't change the date unless there is some extraordinary circumstances and could delay your case for a while. I had earlier made an arrangement with my fiance to visit. After making the request, the Consulate denied it for security reason and closed the ticket. I did not fuss over it, but did print out the response as proof in case I needed it at the interview.

My appointment was at 10AM, which happened to be the last appointment in the morning. When I got there at 9:30AM, security asked to see the appointment letter and x-ray my bag and jacket. My phone was taken from me at the entrance and they gave me a number plat... read complete review
