Interview schedule for Aug 15 at 8:30am.
Arrived at 7:50am and people were already waiting. I was too early so they asked me to take a seat first and go to 1/f at 8:15am.
At 8:15, they asked me to give them my phone. I went upstairs and wait for them to call my name.
At 8:40, a Chinese lady called me and first interview has started. She asked for the docs. Her questions were:
- who is petitioning for you? (My husband)
- how did u meet? (I told him that his classmates with my friend's wife and she introduced us by sending me a message on fb)
- of all the countries in Asia, why did he choose hong kong? (I told her that he was fascinated with Asia, but it happens that his friend knew someone in HK)
- did your husband tell his friend that he was looking for a wife? (No)
- what was his friend's intention why she messaged you? (Just to make friends, and show him around for when he would be here)
- so she wasn't matchmaking? (No)
- why are you the one going there and not him?
- you are born in the philippines, when did you move to Hk?
- any other places/countries that you've stayed for more than a year?
- have you been married before?
- has he been married before?
- does he have children?
- do you have children?
- have you been to the US?
- how do we communicate? (I told her i have copies of evidence and she asked for them and in the end i ended up giving her the whole folder and our photo album, it fit by the way). But in the end, i ended up giving her the whole file.
- how many time has he been here?
I showed her the pics and she saw a pic of him singing so i told her it was when he proposed to me, which was a surprise to me. I told her some background of his planned proposal.
Then she returned the docs to me one by one as she was interviewing me. And towards the end of the interview, she gave me a pamphlet of domestic violence. Then she told me to sit and wait to be called again.
About 3 mins after, a white American man called me asked me to swear. Then he took my fingerprints. After that he asked me to sit down again.
About 10-15 mins, i was called by the same guy and asked me questions again:
- how did you meet?
- where did you meet?
- have you been to the US?
- have you been married before?
- you were married in HK?
- how long have you been married?
- how many times has he been to hk? (3 times, first one for 10 days, second for a month, third for 3 months)
- he spends a lot of time in hk (yes he does)
-does he live with you when he's here?(yes)
- when he's here who supports him? (Me)
- what do you do?
Then he asked me if i had got the domestic violence pamphlet, i told him yes. And he said they are required by law to hand it out to people who are immigrating with family visa.
A few clicks on the computer and he said you're visa is approved. You will receive an email or text to notify you when your visa is ready for pick up. He handed me the remaining of the original docs and my confirmation page for when i pick up the visa.
I was out of the building slightly more or less 9:30am.
Documents I brought with me
- passport and a copy of it
- hkid and a copy of it
- marriage cert and a copy
- birth certificate and a copy
- affidavit of support, tax transcripts and copies (i had a checklist for it at the nVc and told us to bring it to the interview, they didnt take them.. Said we already had it submitted to NVC - the first AOS)
- print out of DS-260 (seems unnecessary)
- confirmation page (for pick up of visa)
- medical report
- confirmation pages of IV and AOS fees (seems unnecessary)
- confirmation page of DS-261 (seems unnecessary)
- husband's divorce papers
- husband's adoption papers
- mother-in-law's tax returns and copies
- mother-in-law's employment letter
- husband's passport copy
- huband's birth certificate copy
- proof of relationship:
(Skype conversations, facebook conversations, phone bills, letters, western union receipts, plane tickets, hotel accomodation receipts, photos)
I had a backpack full of stuff even the guy told me that i brought a lot of stuff with me. I said yes i do. A lot of the stuff i brought with me was not looked at all. Im sure as hell the guy didnt look thru our convesations and letters. He only skimmed through the photos and that was it.
You can bring as much stuff as you want. It's all up to you. After having been interviewed, i shouldnt have brought so much stuff with me. And oh they didnt need the xray as well. I had to leave it outside.
