Review Topic: K1 Visa

We had an overall great experience. Our appt. was 1030 am and we got there at 930am. We were called up to the gate by security and went through security clearance, given a locker and directed to go inside. My fiance went ahead of me although I was the the US citizen the guards thought it necessary to search me and ask me a few questions (weird but at this point I just wanted to get through the process. We entered an outside waiting area and waited for about 10 mins before my fiance's name was called over loud intercom. We went to the window announced on the speaker and met with a local lady with a flat affect. She asked for our documents, who is petitioning for my fiance to which my fiance said "she's right here," and pointed to me, while I simultaneously said "I am". The lady looked like don't be smart with me and so he said "my fiance" She asked how we would be paying the visa fee "Guyanese or US dollars" and went ahead to say some other things about the fee. So I said "babe take the... read complete review

Well first off my wife's interview was this past January and since then it has been crazy busy. this is the first time I really got to come on forums to write this review. A lot of ppl helped me go through the process as smooth as possible so I want to share the experience and hope it will help someone. Especially for the Georgetown Guyana consulate there are not many reviews.

All my vacation time was up so I had to beg my job to give me 4 days off so I could go for the interview. My wife was very nervous and for some odd reason I felt really calm. Almost as if it was just a formality....
Our appointment time was for 9:30am Monday so we got there at 7am. The line was really long. The line is supposed to be two separate lines; one for tourist visas and the other for family visas. Of course everyone lined up in 1 line and none of the guards could be bothered to separate the groups. I quickly realized that it is a complete waste of time showing up at the embassy ear... read complete review

Our interview was scheduled at 9am 4/8/13 and we arrived at 8:30am. We got in line and they asked for 9am appointments to come forward, they look at your appointment letter and then you empty your pockets to go through the metal detector. From there you wait in the courtyard until the guard allows you to go in and present your appointment letter to the window beside the cashier. After that, you will go back to the courtyard and wait until your name is called. I did not go in with my Finacee until it was time for the interview. He tells me that the times he was called in was to pay the fee and then again to present the application paper, financial info, etc.
At about 1:15 we were finally called back to interview with an American man.
The questions asked were: How and when did you meet?
What were you doing in Trinidad? Why was he in Trinidad?
How many times did you see each other?
When did you get engaged?
How do you communicate with each other?... read complete review
