One thing you should know: If you expect privacy.. don\'t, you wont have any.

I arrived at 7:30 for an 8:00 a.m. interview. Went to the 7ma ave. street and directly to the immigrant line. Waited out there until 8 am, standing in line, doesn`t matter at what time you have your interview, the earlier the better. A man around his 50\\\'s gave us our numbers to go in and a paper you must fill out with your name, phone number, email.Take a pen, I borrowed the one I took around 5 times. The paper is for the consular person. After that they made me pass through security. It`s best to not bring anything you wont use, and there is no cellphones allowed, at all. You go up the stairs and into the embassy.

It was nothing like I expected it to be, seems like you are going into a Guatemalan Muni. A bunch of chairs stacked together in the middle and people speaking on mics checking papers and they respond on this phone. A lot like they show them on the TV for prisoners. ... read complete review

Very Bad experience. First of all process there is very chaotic. I went to accompany my fiance last week and just the actual instructions of who should wait when and where is very confusing. There are only two windows assigned for Fiance visa approvals. The other windows are for other types of visas. In any case we were interviewed by the CO who noticed my fiance had been in the States before illegally 5 years ago. That being said, that threw a monkey wrench on the entire process. They told us she needed to prove she had been in Guatemala for the last five years which she subsequently did the next working day. Yet that was not enough, as we were assigned another CO who said they would call us an let us know their decision within an unspecified time frame. In general as of now i must say that they are very, very rude. There were other people with different issues, whom were treated bad also. What i also didn't like was the fact they air your personal business over their microphon... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

We had our interview on Wed. May 19th, 2010. We showed up for our appointment at 7:50 am for a 9 am appointment and got #22. We were a little bit lost at first because they were calling out numbers for tourism visas and we had a number for residence visas. We were called up to the first window at 11:00am and all our papers were in order. They only asked my wife if she had ever lived or been in the States and she said no. I did give her an updated birth certificate than stated she was married to me. We waited more and were called to our interview at 2 pm, so obviously waiting times were crazy long. The interview was less than 5 minutes!! The consular was extremely nice and said sorry for the long wait. She swore us in. She had my wife sign the application. Then she asked when we met, and when we got married. She then looked at two pictures and told us we were approved!! We were told to come back on monday at 3:30 pm to pick up her visa! We really had it easy as my wife had a clea... read complete review

As told to me by Marcos:
My fiancé arrived 2.5 hours early. His appointment time was at 8:30am but he wanted to be there early, unfortunately they didnt open until 8:30 Once inside he gave his paaperwork to the lady at a window. She told him that he needed to have a copy of our co-sponsors PR card, which I forgot to provide Afterwards, he sat down, waited another 1.5 hours and was called to another window. An American lady conducted his interview. She asked: How did you meet your fiancée? You have a daughter together? When was she born? How much does your fiancée make annually? And then she said: "You can pick up your visa on Monday at 3:30pm." She also canceled his previous J-1 visa. His 2yr HRR was up this coming July, and they still approved him. Overall, I belive he had a good experience.
