We arrived early, there was a short line even before 7am.
My appointment was at 8am. We got in line around 7.35am. (my husband waited in line with me, but I went in by myself as planned)
It took around 45 minutes until I could enter the security check. Since I did not have any electronics I was in the main building within a few minutes.
Walked up to window 22.. there was only one person in front of me. The chashier was super friendly. I paid with my german visa debit card.
Waited in front of windows 18 and 19 for about 3-5 minutes until my number was called. The lady checked all my information (in german).
Sat down again, waited for another 5-7 minutes until I got called to window 14 where I had my interview.
The officer was super nice, I told her about our relationship etc. She smiled, was friendly (which helped a lot since I was super nervous!).
The interview took a couple of minutes. In the end she told m... read complete review

Revision: 2* because they mistakenly sent the passport to our home in Austria. We had to take 8 hr train ride each way to get passport in time for flight 1 week after interview. We never paid for shipment nor registered with courier. Sehr stressig!
We arrived at 7:35, later than we planned for the 8:00 appt. This seemed to be just before the peak crowd. It took about 30 minutes to get to the 1st window, with the prior mentioned unfriendly woman. I had written the consulate the prior week to seek permission to accompany my applicant wife, granted. The woman grudgingly let me enter. Handy phones ARE allowed (they are powered off and left at security); I wish we knew as we had troubles with transportation. Someone had a smart watch they couldn't manage to turn off and had to leave. A woman had a big bottle of perfume and other things, but they kept those at security and allowed her in. The next window took about 15 minutes, then 5-10 for the document screening wi... read complete review

My wife's interview took 3 hours, and she received her approval at the conclusion of that interview. She said the staff were very kind. She said her interviewer did speak Russian, but if you can speak English or learn the technical terms of the application (such as "Sponsor", "Household Member", "Proof of Assets", etc.) that the interview goes much smoother.

The reviews from others on here were so helpful to me that I'd like to share my experience:
I arrived at the consulate at 7.35 (appointment was at 8) and was done at 8.35 already (much faster than expected).
The first check at the window outside and security took only 5-10 minutes. I didnt bring my phone and smart watch.
After the security check I went to the main building and went straight to counter 22 as I was told. The counter is around a little corner, just follow the signs. At the counter they checked my interview confirmation, passport, pictures (5x5cm, not the usual german size for passport pictures!) and DS-260 confirmation page.
I was asked to sit down and wait until my numer showed up on a screen. My number was almost immdiatly called and I went to another counter where they checked all original documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate and police certificate). I was unsure if I had to bring my husbands ori... read complete review

US Citizen Petitioner was not allowed to the interview.
Overall interview was friendly - due to all supporting documents well organized and mailed in advance.
