Below is my husband's experience right after his Interview for his K-1. This is his real reaction and I was lucky enough to save the conversation. Enjoy! I hope it helps you.

Well so we left at midnight for our 6 hour ride to Frankfurt. My mom drove the first 3 hours, giving me the chance to sleep a bit in the car. Then I too over for the second half and she fell asleep :D

When we arrived there it was less full than I thought it would be. I've been reading reports from other people online and they always wrote about huge waiting lines and stuff

Well there wasn't one for me outside, I could walk straight to the window to check in and get my waiting room number. At first the guy at the window wanted a DS-160 form from me and I was like "Hey but there was no mention anywhere I needed that!" and he then asked for which visa I'm applying, so I said K-1 and he ... read complete review

Arrived at 7:45, as directed - line around the block! But immigrant visa applicants can use the shorter line to the right, thankfully. For those of you who have been to Berlin, please note - Frankfurt does NOT have cubbies you can put your electronics/phones/etc in & you will have to go back to your car.....this cost us 4-5 places in line, unfortunately!

Also, the OF-169 form from the embassy webpage is wrong & as expected, the photo is a full frontal, not the wacky 3/4 frontal that form 169 says! Also, I might have just missed this, but IF you're using a co-sponsor, you need to prove that they are a US citizen. Sounds logical, but with a massive binder of papers it's easy to overlook! A copy of a US passport will do.

The process is slow but painless. First window is to hand in your photo & money, second window is to review your application packet & information, third window is for the interview. Our interview took about 5 minutes, tops. However, other co... read complete review

PETITION APPROVED YAYYYYEEEYAYYYYEEE!!!

I had my appointment on July 23rd at 08:00 am. Well I think, there is no need to mention that I was a little nervous :-)

I stood in the line for immigration visa, got my number (W602) and was sent pretty quickly into the building. I waited for around 30 minutes before I was called up to the first window (23). The lady at window 23 was very nice and friendly. She just asked me for my passport and told me to sit down and wait until my number is called up again. After another 30 minutes, my number popped up finally for window 20. The lady at window 20 gave me my original forms back and explained everything and told me to sit down one last time before I will have my interview! After a long wait time for around an hour my number popped up for the final interview ;-) The officer asked me some simple questions like "How do you met your fiancé? “…. really nothing to worry about!!! After around 10 minutes during the inte... read complete review

We got to the embassy about 15 minutes early.

It was just about 5 minutes wait in the line out front before we were called to the window.
It was really funny, because we were going there to be interviewed and the first question we were asked was at the window, "What is your business here today?"
We weren't ready to answer I guess cause we just both looked blankly at each other. Thank goodness the guy at the window helped us out.. "Maybe for a final interview for your immigrant visa?"

We were directed to the second line. 1 min later we were going through metal detectors and given the ok to cross the path over to the embassy. (BTW.. They have a new system where you put all your belongings in plastic bags before you go into the first house. I think it's really great because you don't have to wonder whether or not any of your pocket change is taken.

We go into the embassy through the 200 pound doors... And we're told to sit in the... read complete review

The information here is repeated in my progress report thread, and I'm the petitioner. I wasn't at the interview, so the finer details might be missing.

The interview at the consulate was apparently as easy as pie Total time it took was approximately 2.5 hours, but would have been quicker if he had some change (coins).

Just in case you need to take photocopies or to drink/eat little stuff out of the vending machines, bring either coins or at least a 10€ bill. Apparently, changing the bill is not really easy.

We were right in the limbo of consular confusion during the transition to the new application submission procedure. We were told to bring all the documents with the applicant in person on the day of the interview, but the new procedure calls for submission via mail prior to the interview date. Visa fee needs to be paid in advance through a website via bank transfer or in person at the Berlin office. Medical can... read complete review
