My appointment was at 9.15am and I arrived at the Consulate 15 mins earlier. There were no lines at the main gate at all, so it took less than 5 mins to go through the security check and get into the main consulate hall. My husband (USC) on showing his passport was allowed in with me.

Once in the building, I was handed instructions with interview steps. My husband and I were surprised to see only a handful of people inside. The Consulate wasn’t busy and only three windows were open.

I first went to window 22 to submit my passport, pay a fee and have my fingerprints taken. My case file wasn’t there, so the caseworker had to look for it elsewhere. He excused us and left his post for 10 mins to search for it. Once it was found, he explained my case was filed under my maiden name.

Once done at that window, 10 mins later my number was called up to another window, where I had a brief conversation with a caseworker. He went through my file to... read complete review

The interview was scheduled for 8. I arrived around 7.30. Some people were already at the gate but not in line. I was the second in line. The gate opened at 8. I went inside 5 minutes later. At 8.25 I was through with everything and interview included and left with the approval promise by the consular officer. Everybody was very friendly and firm. The interview was conducted in German. The usual questions which you can read everywhere. He said also that I'll very likely get my visa quick so that I can board my plane, which I booked already. Because we would like to celebrate our anniversary. So very supportive.

Be sure you get your police certificate and all papers and medical in advance, because that must now be conducted before you get an interview appointment! You can't go for the medical and then next day for the interview anymore! All papers need to be mailed to the consulate and then if everything what they need is there then after it they will give you an appointm... read complete review

Making the move to the United States is a major step in our lives. Therefore, I wrote this little story to help you prepare for _your_ interview, but also to serve as a memento for myself. Hence, it's a bit longer than some other accounts on VisaJourney.com. I hope that you still find it worth the read.

PLANNING MY FRANKFURT TRIP

The Frankfurt Consulate General is in charge of all immigration visa cases in Germany.

It so happens that, of all the medical clinics sanctioned by the Consulate, the one in Frankfurt is the closest to my former home town.

Getting there via Germany's high-speed train, ICE, takes about two hours. Hence, I decided to combine both the medical exam and the visa interview into a single trip.

I stayed in Frankfurt for two nights. The first day was just for traveling. On the second day, I visited the clinic as a walk-in. On the third day, I went to my interview in the morning, and retu... read complete review

Everybody was very friendly except the man doing the actual interview! I was glad when it was finally over!
Parking, security and waiting was all easy going and doesn't need explaining.
