My Fiance's interview went very smoothly. After a short wait, she had about a 5 minute interview, and the visa was issued. Very few questions asked.

I arrived at the embassy at 12:45 pm for an appointment at 1pm. After an easy security check (with funny relaxing guards), I got inside the building.
First stop is the "tickets lady". Depending on the type of visa you are applying for, she will give you a B-numbers ticket (for non-immigrant), a A-numbers ticket (for immigrant) or a C-numbers ticket (I am not sure for whom this category applies to, work maybe?).
After getting my A-ticket, I got to sit in the big squared waiting room for about 40 minutes before being called at a desk. 3 walls of the room are covered by 20 windows with numbers ; 2 TVs tell you which ticket is being called at which desk. There isn't a lot of privacy when you talk to the officers through speakerphones...
It was done in 30s : the lady (French speaker) stabbed my ticket and told me my husband already paid the visa fees so I could go back to my chair and wait. I am glad he did pay in advance as I saw a man having to do it on-site,... read complete review

Frictionless is difficult,
1.30 hr for full process,
Everybody really nice, the interviewer a bit more serious but it's her job i guess.
Smooth & easy, maybe the easiest part of the application.
Can't wait to fly now...
ps : hang on, it might be long and frustrating sometimes, but it s easy finally.
ps 1 : thanks to members here, helpful, and reassuring sometimes when you seem stuck.

Appointment was scheduled for 1:00pm, arrived at the consulate letter in hand at 12h40. Went through security, took my ticket and a seat.
It seemed that we were about 10 filing for an immigrant visa that day.
The process was done in three steps:
- first, at about 1:10pm, everyone was called one after the other by the consular assistant (CA) to check people in. They asked for the appointment letter and the ticket.
- then, they called everyone one after the other to the CA's counter. It took quite some time for my number to be called (2:30pm). The lady was very nice, went through my whole file. Asked me if I happened to have any updated civil documents which I did. Took new pictures too. Asked me if I had a new address, etc... The lady was French and she was really nice. She asked me when I was intending to leave, I said in 3 weeks, then she told me she would try to do my visa ASAP. I suppose that she is in charge of printing it and doing the final steps.

On the day of 5 March, 2014 I had an interview scheduled at Paris embassy. To resume everything just in one phrase, the whole process was smooth and got the visa approved without any hassle. Those people saying that the interview is easier than we expect are right.
Now some details. Indeed, if you have your interview scheduled for 13h00, there is no point arriving before 12h30. The guards won't let you in.
At the gate I showed the interview letter and the passports. Then in the building at the next security checkpoint I got my documents case thoroughly inspected. And yes, you can bring your mobile phone and leave it with the guards (they will give you a piece of paper on blue ribbon so you can get it back). They will ask you to turn it of.
Once inside, head straight to the ticket machine. Make sure you select the right one. Mine was A since I filed for F2A visa. Remember your ticket number since this is how you will be called all the time.... read complete review
