Review Topic: F-2A Visa

On the day of 5 March, 2014 I had an interview scheduled at Paris embassy. To resume everything just in one phrase, the whole process was smooth and got the visa approved without any hassle. Those people saying that the interview is easier than we expect are right.

Now some details. Indeed, if you have your interview scheduled for 13h00, there is no point arriving before 12h30. The guards won't let you in.

At the gate I showed the interview letter and the passports. Then in the building at the next security checkpoint I got my documents case thoroughly inspected. And yes, you can bring your mobile phone and leave it with the guards (they will give you a piece of paper on blue ribbon so you can get it back). They will ask you to turn it of.

Once inside, head straight to the ticket machine. Make sure you select the right one. Mine was A since I filed for F2A visa. Remember your ticket number since this is how you will be called all the time.

Then head one level up into the waiting room (there is one on the same level with no activity). Get seated and follow the panel lighting up windows and the called numbers.

The first time I got called within 10-15 minutes. I was asked to show my passport and the ticket. Then the lady asked me to get seated and wait to be called the second time.

The second time I got called within 30 minutes or so. This time the lady went through the documents she had and asked me to precise some details. She might ask if you have any other documents to join the case. She forgot (or did not knew) that I had to submit AOS as advised by NVC (got checklist twice, NVC asked to bring it to the interview).
A friendly advice, have your documents well organised in your document briefcase.

The third time and last time I got called in like 15 minutes. This time this was an american lady. I totally forgot that she is going to ask questions about me and my wife, and about our relationship. She asked about how I got to France, when and why. Then she asked about working place of my wife. Finally she asked me to explain how come I born in one country and lived in another, the same for my wife.
It seems that she verified how well we know each other and our similarities/differences. Make sure you know what you speak about and be confident. Overall the discussion was very friendly and I did not feel any pressure at all.

At the end the lady said : "for me all is well, you will get your visa soon!" I couldn't help to ask her : "This is it?" She smiled and said yes!

I couldn't hide my smile while I was marching through the hall! Thanks, God, this was over!

I got my visa the day after tomorrow with the so long waited visa inside!
