First of, many people told us we had to wait for the embassy to schedule the interview for us and we took a chance and schedule it ourselves. He got to the embassy around 11:30AM The interview was scheduled for 11:45AM. He went in , they took all electronics, liquids and such. For the interview part, they ask him the basic questions. When and how did we meet?, how long we been together?, Do our parents approve of the relationship?, what do my parents do for a living? and such. He was out of the embassy by 12:10PM we were approved but have to send them the Casier Judicaire for another country. We didn't really think about since he left before he turn 16 ( Which he did a month later).

Interview went very well. Just like everyone I was very nervous and stressed out but staff was actually really nice. When you arrive, security makes you wait across the road until it's the exact time. No need to be pushy, they'll call you when they are ready. Then you go through security, leave your phone and any electronics you may have as well as ''dangerous'' items. I always have a small pencil case in my purse with all the essentials including a mini pair of scissors and stapler and obviously they took it too, just in case. Now of course I didn't need that with me - I just forgot to leave it in my hotel room but staff was nice, they smiled and say at least you travel well prepared.
Once inside you get a ticket number and you wait. First person you see will ask you for a proof of payment and will review all the important paperwork with you. I believe they also took my fingerprints. Then once you're all clear you sit down and wait to be called for the interview. I didn't have... read complete review

As already see under other review, it is not necessary to go one hours before, just 15 minutes before it is enough to pass the different checkpoint.
The service is much faster that what you can do when you pass thru prefecture when your spouse need a "titre de sejour". If you complain regarding American administration, please do not come back in France with your wife if she doesn't have the french nationality. it is a nightmare.

For the IR1 Process, you go first to pre-check, to make sure all your documents are up to date and all your personal informations are correct. After this check, you go to an interrogation desk (no room), where you are been ask few questions, since we have been married for 10 years, the only question we had was : why now ? It was funny because we review all this others questions but he didn't ask anyone we found on the forum site. it was ok, we just explain it was due for family reason. All was good and I got approve. Normally you should d... read complete review

the NVC stage could last up to 20 weeks ( 8 weeks renewed twice) so my husband requested to work remotely so we could spend time as a family after 6 months of living apart (minus a christmas visit). The hardest part of that whole process was the unknown time factor. I went from rental to rental dragging my four kids (including a newborn, growing into a crawling baby) and ended up back at my parents house because we couldn't afford to save up for plane tickets and keep renting all over the place for short term leases.

anyway I was back at my parents' house near Paris when my husband arrived to spend a month together. The following day we received the interview date!
It was March 9th, interview set for March 22nd. (we had requested an expedite so there was no choice of date).
we were supposed to leave on the 11th for a rental some 400km away!
I went to the ONLY place in France that does the medical (Levallois Perret) on the 10th, for the blood test a... read complete review
