As already see under other review, it is not necessary to go one hours before, just 15 minutes before it is enough to pass the different checkpoint.
The service is much faster that what you can do when you pass thru prefecture when your spouse need a "titre de sejour". If you complain regarding American administration, please do not come back in France with your wife if she doesn't have the french nationality. it is a nightmare.
For the IR1 Process, you go first to pre-check, to make sure all your documents are up to date and all your personal informations are correct. After this check, you go to an interrogation desk (no room), where you are been ask few questions, since we have been married for 10 years, the only question we had was : why now ? It was funny because we review all this others questions but he didn't ask anyone we found on the forum site. it was ok, we just explain it was due for family reason. All was good and I got approve. Normally you should do an oath that you will said the truth. But he say if you can swear , please say that you will say the truth. I can already feel the real freedom of religion/thought in this country.
