Because of the distance, traveling and overnighting in Helsinki was the best option. There were relatively cheap air bnbs near the consulate, and his appointment was at 9:00am.
Upon arrival, first the security people told him to stash his backpack in a café because they wouldn't allow him like have it on himself in the premise or whatever (kind of odd -- but okay). Apparently this is in the instructions for interviewing and easily missed.
Security consisted of airport like security.
After security, he waited in the waiting room for about 10 minutes and a Finnish guy asked for all the documents and told him to go back into the waiting room. About 15 minutes later or he was called back in to like talk to the consulate officer (who had really cool hair and was kind of laid back).
Questions asked: Where did we meet, what does your fiancé do, when do you plan on flying to the US, what sort of wedding/ceremony will you have... read complete review

Arrived at the embassy ~5 mins before appointment, went through security, and was let into a waiting room (with only carrying the papers needed for interview; everything else must be left at the security).
Got called to booth number 1, where a Finnish speaking officer asked to submit all the originals, one passport-style picture, passport and pre-paid return envelope (along with I-864, tax return of 2019, and husband's passport bio page, which I had copies of). Then, some more waiting, until was asked to go to booth number 3. There an English-speaking officer asked me to take the oath and submit fingerprints. She then started asking:
1. When did we meet?
2. Have I been married before?
3. Has my husband been married before? (He has, and the officer started going through the papers, and asked me to give the divorce documents. I told her I don't have the originals - only copies, to which she replied "oh nevermind, I can see them on my computer"... read complete review

I arrived at the embassy about 10 minutes before the interview. I was immediately let in and went through a security screening. You have to turn off your phone and leave it at the door with the rest of your stuff. You can only bring the things you need for the interview.
I went to a large waiting room and there was only one other person there at the same time. I was called to the first window where they asked for all the documents. No copies of any documents was asked, only the originals.
I went back to the waiting room and was asked back to the second window about 5 minutes later. The consular officer took my fingerprints and only asked me a couple of questions: where did we meet, what does my husband do, what do I do and when would I be traveling. She then said that everything should be in order and that things are going to move pretty quickly from now on.
I waited 8 days for my passport (one of them a federal holiday and a weekend). My... read complete review
