Timeline so far:
• I-129F Petition Filed: April 25, 2024
• NOA1 Received: April 25, 2024
• NOA2 Approval: [Insert approval date if you received it]
• NVC Case Creation Date: September 19, 2024
• Case Sent to the Embassy: August 22, 2024
• Status “Ready” at US Embassy Addis Ababa: October 25, 2024
I am currently in the “Ready” status at the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa as of October 25, 2024. However, I haven’t received an email regarding my interview schedule yet, and it’s been over a week since my case was marked as “Ready.”
My questions:
• For those who went through the K-1 process at the Addis Ababa Embassy, how long did it take for your interview to be scheduled after your case was marked as “Ready”?
• Is it normal to wait several weeks, or even longer, after the “Ready” status before receiving the interview appointment email?

We arrived early for the interview, about 6 am. The interview time was 7:15 am, and we wanted to get a good spot in line. There were already about 5-7 people there. Once the embassy opened, they had a guard that escorted us to line up in front of the embassy. Elders and families were pushed towards the front of the line.
After receiving our documents (marriage certificate, birth certificate, police certificate) they allowed my wife to enter. I waited at a cafe about a half-mile down the road. After about 45 minutes later, she called me and told me she passed the interview. These are the questions they asked:
1.) How did you meet?
2.) When did you meet?
3.) Has he ever visited you (when was the last time)?
4.) How many times has he visited you?
They didn't ask her for any of the additional documents we had (financial, text messages, emails, photos, etc.). We practiced all of the possible questions they could ask multiple ... read complete review

I am filling out this on behalf of my wife (fiance at the time of the interview) who interviewed for the Fiancee Visa at the US Embassy in Addis Ababa. The appointment was very early in the morning around 7am, and she arrived an hour beforehand. She brought her DS-160 confirmation, proof of visa payment, interview confirmation with instructions, birth certificate, police report, sealed medical examination and two passport sized photos. She also brought some additional photos of the two of us, my tax returns for the past three years and the original I-129F package. I recall that we did not need some of these documents, but I would recommend doing your own research and bringing more than what is needed, just in case.
They gave her the option to speak in Amharic or English. She spoke both languages but was more comfortable with Amharic. They asked her about how she met me, about when we got engaged and about our wedding here in the states (location, date, etc...). They also... read complete review
