Money, Money, Money..... I leave this review for those of you trying to find information on the visa process and the red tape you must abide by. First of all, being an American War Veteran means nothing, so erase that from you mind and mentality immediately. Second, with the current economy make sure you have at the least (withouth using a lawyer) at least three or four thousand dollars to spare for the "filing fees, pictures, translations, etc.etc.etc." Just know you are being punished for going about your spouse visa the correct way while so many illegals can freely roam our streets day and night. Ok, now for the embassy review... 2 Interviews, the first for submitting documents and for your spouse to deal with the jealous, extremely rude and overweight local latin person in control of her/his documents they submit. 99.9% of the time regardless of your income or previous years income, your spouse will be told they need a joint sponsor and form I-864A... Never in my life have I dealt... read complete review

My fiance and myself have had a pleasant experience with the embassy in El Salvador. However, I'm not a fan of the Visa Processing Center in Mexico, as every time I call, I get different information, that is unreliable and insufficient. To add salt to the wound, you have to prepay with credit card before you can speak with anyone. It's a far cry from excellence in customer/citizen services.

This embassy contracts workers from the outside that have no knowledge of the immigration laws and rules. They are updated once a month on procedures, are rude and imcompetant. Be careful when they tell you something, it will very likely be wrong. My daughter-in-law had her interview on 08/24/09 and was told at the window that her DS-230 had the incorrect name on it (how many names do you have?). Once she went to the actual interview, the caseworker El Salvadoran) assigned to her was very intimidating and rude. He told her that my son did not make enough money to support her, even though he was way over the poverty guide line. She also had to come back a week later with a co-sponser (I-864A) and then he would tell her if she needed to file a waiver (I-601). Thank God when she went for the second interview, she had an American caseworker that told her that all her paperwork was correct and that she did not need to file a waiver due to the fact that she EWI's as a juvenile. He ac... read complete review

This embassy normally requires 2 interviews. At the first one my husband was told that we needed a Joint Sponsor. This is because, even though I make enough money now, I didn't make very much money last year. They asked for the documents on June 29th and wanted the originals one week later on July 6th. My grandma sent them the very next morning, but they had to come from Alaska and so they didn't arrive on time. At the second interview, he did bring a scanned copy of my grandma's I-864 and taxes, but they told him that we needed to have a third interview and that I needed to come. They didn't tell us that we needed to bring proof of our relationship, but it was the first thing they asked for in the third interview. He was in there for about an hour and a half. Then I was in there for about an hour. Then they called him in again. They asked A LOT of questions. Some were pretty difficult. Things like: where did you go on your first date? Who went with you? Why did you choose to go there?... read complete review

Our interview was in two parts. First my wife had one. They asked for a second one to confirm our marriage was "real" by asking her a series of questions and then asking me the same. It was almost like a nerve-racking game of "Newlyweds"!! They asked questions - some very general, and some very private. Things like... "Does she have any scars?" "Where?" "What are his/her parent's names?" "What did you do the first night you ever met?" Be ready for ANYTHING here! Otherwise, it went well!
