Hi, I just want to share our interview experience. (We are a same sex couple).
Interview date : September 21, 2016 at 7:40am
As the petitioner I decided to go to Ecuador to be at the interview with my fiance. I think that was the best decision I have ever made. the interview was so hard that I was losing my hope.
We got there around 7:00am (we wait until 8 am outside).
I guy came out and ask the beneficiaries name and then he asked (who are yo) I said the petitioner "we are a couple" then he said ok "go to security with this ticket.
The security lady did not say "Hi or Good morning" she goes like "do you have a cell phone) we said YES she said take them back home and come back. I was like WTF we are going to miss our interview if we do that. (before they used to put the cellphone in a lil box and when you finish the interview they return the phone to you). My husband was scheduled at 9:40 AM. He went in line at 9:00, did a little checkpoint and security. Make sure not to bring cell phones! It would make things a lot easier.
He was called to the first window and asked for police certificate, medical examinations, a few photos and questions as follow:
How did we meet?
When did we get marry?
Then he waited about 3 hours to be called to a second window, officer did not ask for evidence or supporting papers since I ensured NVC received all paperwork with signature required, official documents such as marriage certificate, police records, etc; taxes, IRS transcripts, paychecks, translations. Our case went very smooth and had not RFE. By the way, he had originals and copies mentioned in the interview package.

I have extremely mixed reviews about our interaction with the consulate in Guayaquil overall- some very positive experiences but also some very negative ones, which makes this review difficult. Overall, to all that will be working with this embassy in the future I will say this: be prepared for the possibility that they will make mistakes that will make your life much more difficult, and make any decisions with this possibility in mind.
We arrived for our interview 7.40 appointment time only about 10 minutes early thanks to traffic and a cab driver whose shortcut ended up taking more time overall, but this was perfectly fine- they line people up for residency visa interview appointments by appointment time and then let them in in that order, so there is really no reason to be arriving an hour, an hour and a half early. Here is my review of the Guayaquil Consulate.
Got there approximately 7:00 AM, Our Interview time was 7:40.
Around 7:30 am we started getting divided into separate lines depending on your schedule time. I noticed the 7:40 am was mostly resident type visas. We got to the first security check point. (DO NOT BRING THE MEDICAL CD). Once inside we went thru the Metal Detector.. (Please listen to the instruction of the guards) some people just don't pay attention and starts arguing with them.
Once inside we sat down on the green chairs. 15 min they called us and the lady told us to give the passport, police certificate, the medical envelope and birth certificate. Then she took my fiancee finger prints, and She asked us some questions like:
When and where did we meet?
When is the Wedding?
and told us to sit down.

I went to the interview with my fiancee, we had an interview scheduled for November 10 at 7:40. We arrived at 7AM. By the time we arrived there were about 15 people in front of us.
They opened the doors and set up a check-in podium at the front of the line by 7:30am. The first thing the lady at the podium said was that if anyone had an appointment at 8AM that they had to go to the back of the line, as they are only letting in the 7:40am appointments first. about 10 people left the line, and at this point the lines were split into two, an immigrant visa and non-immigrant visa line.
We ended up first on the immigrant visa line.
At the security checkpoint we were given a numbered chip that corresponded to the locker space where our cellphones were being held. Passed through security then walked to a desk that was right outside the main room. There we were asked for my fiancee's (beneficiary) passport.
